The hugely successful musical The Book of Mormon is heading to Australia and tickets are going fast.
On January 5 The Book of Mormon organisers announced that all the tickets for a January 17 preview performance would be sold for $20. The tickets, which went on sale at the Princess Theatre on Monday morning, could only be purchased physically – not online – prompting hundreds of Aussies to swarm Melbourne's CBD.
Some punters weren't as committed as the Marriotts, and didn't show until early morning. Boy, did that mean a lot of sunburned Aussies in the Melbourne's CBD.
Just after 9am on Monday morning organisers were forced to close the line – an hour before the tickets even went on sale.
The Book of Mormon has broken box office records at a number of venues around the world.
