Since AI Is Being Used For Everything Now, I Let It Design My First Tattoo And Here's How It Went

"No ragrets" — me, trusting AI to give me a decent tattoo

Hi, I'm Bobby! I was abroad for nine months, both as a student as well as a backpacker. To commemorate the experience, I got a tattoo, despite thinking I'd never EVER get one.

I started my journey in Hong Kong, traveling then to Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam, and Laos. My final stop was in Bangkok, Thailand, where I got my first tattoo within 48 hours of my flight home!

A fellow traveler gave me the book The Alchemist along the way, which was the source inspo for the design.

I started by taking out the title and fired up the AI.

This took a LOT of tries. Here was (sorta) my prompt:

"The provided image is from The Alchemist. I want this to be the tattoo's background. I would like a mountain range to be in the foreground, with a river passing through. I want two bears to be walking along the river."

Sometimes I added more detail. Sometimes less. Trial and error.

I took a motorcycle through most of North Thailand, passing through various mountain ranges and river valleys. As for the bears, it represents the people from home beside me throughout my epic journey.

And now? I can't wait for my next journey (or for my next tattoo, sorry, mom).
