History doesn't have to repeat itself. If we take charge by understanding our history, we may be able to circumvent certain disasters from overtaking humanity.
History Doesn't Have To Repeat Itself: The Ball Is In Your Court
Everyone has contemplated whether or not history repeats itself or not. I believe that for some, it does, and for others, it can take an entirely new course depending on the decision made.
Much like success, depending on the pursuer, success can be achieved once it is clearly defined. With the potential repetition of history, it is the same concept, the person pursuing a change in history must define what change in history they'd like to see so they can clearly work toward that change.
In grade school, we began learning our history lessons although some argue that bits and pieces of "our history" were left out of the curriculum, which may be true, still enough information was provided in order for us to make some of those positive changes we desperately desire today.
For example, in light of President Donald Trump being elected, it is easy to see that history repeats itself with the election our nation's leaders. In the past, there have been presidents who have been deemed unfit, naïve, and mad, yet they still are propelled into leadership roles for others to risk idolizing them. Let's take Andrew Johnson and James K. Polk for starters. They both were great men with good intentions for America and who could hold the attention of a crowd, but whose methods proved unhelpful and even disastrous in the end. Nonetheless, leaders like these men have continued to be spokespersons for the American people.
I say this to point out that understanding that history repeats itself is a tool. Learning your history is essential to being able to circumvent history from repeating itself, especially the negative history.
In other words, it's like knowing and understanding which wrong paths you've taken in the past so you can inform your children not to do the same.
If I don't want to struggle with poverty like some of my predecessors, I can use my power to choose what outcome I want, then go get it with calculation and talent.
