Perks Of Being A Commuter

You may think living on campus is where it's at, but being a commuter has its benefits too. Here are a few reasons to live at home or get an apartment (as a junior or senior).

1. You're probably used to your roommates

Your siblings and parents have been your "roommates" for a while. Dorm roommates often become lifelong friends, but there's something to be said for familiarity. You could stick around at your parents' place - or, if you're an upperclassman with your own apartment, you can be a little more picky about who shares your bathroom.

2. Home. Cooked. Meals.

Need we say more? Commuters have it made when it comes to culinary options. Nothing like grocery shopping in your parents' fridge.

3. Pets

You can't keep Fido in the residence halls, but nothing beats a happy ball of fluff at the end of a day full of tough classes.

4. More space

5. Your own study sanctuary

Not everybody likes studying at the library. We get it. So make your own fortress of solitude at home.

6. Quiet hours? What are those?

Conversely, if you want to be loud at night, be loud at night! So long as the other nearby folks are okay with that.

7. Traffic ninja

Hours of driving the streets of Louisville has given you unrivaled knowledge of traffic patterns and shortcuts. This includes the parking patterns on campus.
