This smörgåsbord of monstrosities is an iconic choice for any monster lover. If you didn't fall in love with this is movie as a child, you'll fall in love with it now. This iconic lycanthropic duo is straight from the mind of R. L. Stine. He's known as the Stephen King of children's literature, but that doesn't mean you're going to be any less horrified because of its "for children" status. When you add these two TV specials together, you're going to get a movie's worth of werewolf horror. I don't care if it's for kids. Go ahead and give it a watch. 7. Cursed (2005)

This Wes Craven film is... something else. Starring Christina Ricci and Jesse Eisenberg, this werewolf film is honestly kind of campy and silly, but well worth the watch especially if you get the unrated version. You're in for a gory treat! This movie is a very different twist on the werewolf genre. If you're tired of the usual tropes, Wer is your go-to. To be quite honest, the werewolf effects in this movie aren't exactly top notch, but howlers can't be choosers. The storyline, however, will keep your jaw locked tight on this American-Mexican film that follows Ambrose, a blind Vietnam veteran, who finds his new retirement community a little more canine than expected. 4. Trick 'r Treat (2007)

Not be biased, but Trick 'r Treat might be the best Halloween movie ever made. It's an anthology that deliciously mixes its storylines into an amalgam of horror and camp. I don't want to spoil exactly why this is an iconic werewolf movie, but just know that the big bad wolf definitely makes an appearance. 3. Dog Soldiers (2002)

This werewolf movie takes place far off the beaten path of its predecessors. So far off, in fact, it takes place in the highlands of Scotland. Accents — both British and Scottish — abound in this tale about a group of soldiers who bite off a bit more than they can chew. This movie is based on the book, Thor, by Wayne Smith. In both the movie and the hard-to-find book, Thor is a loving German Shepard who will do anything to protect his human family. 1. An American Werewolf in London (1981)

The last film on this list was revolutionary for its time. John Landis and Rick Baker's use of practical effects to portray the transformation from human to werewolf shocked moviegoers when it was first released in 1981 and continues to do so to this day. You can find the transformation scene above, but we highly recommend the whole movie. It's filled with mysteriously foggy moors, gory apparitions, and a unique quadruped werewolf.
