One gel manicure is equivalent to about 15-40 minutes in direct sunlight. While sun exposure is okay in moderation with proper SPF protection, getting regular exposure to UV lights via gel manicures means you should be doing more to protect your skin.

According to developers, wearing the specially designed glove during your gel mani will block 99.9% of the UV light that would have been hitting your hands.

Made from a thermoplastic elastomer (a fancy, stretchy plastic), the shield is made with titanium dioxide, which is the ingredient that makes sunscreen white.

Right now, the product is still raising money for production on Indiegogo. It is, however, available to purchase now, and costs about $1 per set of gloves with discounts for bulk purchases.
