Here's How To Plop Your Hair For The Best Curls Of Your Life

Plop down over here while we explain this magic.

Natural curls are downright ~majestic~.

But living with curly hair means living in a constant state of chaos.

You can have the best hair day of your life on a Monday and then, BAM:. Sleep on your hair and Tuesday is a bust.

Curly-haired people of the world, there is hope. And this hope is called "plopping."

What is plopping, you ask? It's a no-heat method of drying your curls to perfection.

It's natural, it's easy, and it can make your life with natural curls a dream.

Some people plop in pairs.

And it's not just women.

No matter how they plop, it WORKS.

So, how exactly do you plop? First, grab your favorite hair products.

Then grab a cotton T-shirt.

You can do plop with any cotton T-shirt, but long sleeves may be easier to maneuver.

Then follow these eight steps — from this great Curly Hair Routine video by Donata White.

Step 1: After shampooing, apply your products to damp — not wet — hair.

For even more protection against frizz, use a cotton T-shirt to squeeze excess moisture out of your hair before using any products.

Step 2: Use a wide-tooth comb to detangle your hair.

Or, if you prefer, use your fingers.

Step 3: Lay out the cotton shirt on a large, flat surface.

To keep the surface underneath the T-shirt dry, you can lay a towel down beforehand.

Step 4: Flip your head upside down, then gently begin to lower your curls onto the T-shirt.

Carefully gather your hair in the center of the T-shirt so that it's one unit.

Step 5: Begin rolling the bottom of the T-shirt up toward your forehead, then wrap it around the nape of your neck.

If there's enough fabric to tie the ends at your neck, you can. Otherwise, you'll secure this piece in the next step.

Step 6: Bring the top of the T-shirt up toward your head, wrapping around the rest of your hair and bringing the arms down and around the nape of your neck.

As you tuck the T-shirt around your neck, use the fabric to tuck in the first flap, too.

Step 7: Stand upright and bring the arms of the shirt up towards your forehead. Tie them together in a knot, then tuck any loose corners into the knot.

Tie the knot tight enough that it stays in place, but not so tight that it's uncomfortable.

Step 8: Once your hair is dry, unwrap your T-shirt and SEE YOUR BEAUTIFUL CURLS.

Some people wait 30 minutes, others wait two hours, and some let their hair dry overnight. Find the amount of time that works best for you!
