If your friends are creative and goal oriented you will obviously succeed but if your friends are those students who are always on drugs, out for parties and finally ends up missing almost all classes you will fail. Choose a friend whose goals matches yours.

    3. Listen actively in class

Listening is the only way you are able to get knowledge from your trainer. You must train your brain to be attentive. Always go to class prepared to learn. Have a notebook and a pen to jot down important points. Some lectured words are never in books, and you have to be attentive to capture them. Some lecturers may make assumptions that you understand what he or she teaches and therefore fail to give you notes.

    4. Read with your brain switched on

Many students have scheduled some time for their personal reading. The biggest challenge with this is that they fail to pay attention. They only roll eyes over lines but can’t understand anything. They have to read and re-read a single page several times to get the context. To avoid this, you should always start reading with your mind sober. Have a 30 minutes workout then take a shower and start reading.

    5. Read course outlines

As you start every unit, always have a look at the outline. Analyze the course descriptions, goals and objectives. Now plan on how you are going to complete the course on time. Set time limits for every topic. Setting your own limits helps you avoid situations whereby you are to be examined in topics that have never been taught, and you have no clue about. You will be on the safe side even if the lecturer is unable to complete the set syllabus.

    6. Be yourself

No one knows you more than you do. Never listen to the negative views of people. You’re the best but only if you believe in yourself. Work hard to achieve your goals. Do what you feel is good for you but not what your friends are doing. In everything you do remember you’re in university to learn and exams will be set to evaluate your progress. Prepare for your exams in advance, have confidence in yourself and you will pass no matter how tough the exams will be.

    7. Exercise and eat healthy foods
