What Position Should You Apply For On ASUR Cabinet?

You got: Vice President

The duties of the ASUR Vice President shall include but not be limited to: a. supporting the ASUR President and their Cabinet; b. helping facilitate ASUR Cabinet's student outreach programs; c. helping maintain an Office of Publicity to include but not be limited to publicizing relevant SG documents (e.g. meeting dates and times, minutes, agendas, etc.), maintaining the ASUR homepage, and informing ASUR members of SG projects; d. but not be limited to archiving all SG official documents, records, and SG departmental charters and standard operating procedures: i. being responsible for implementing and overseeing legacy projects or binders by individual cabinet members. e. fulfilling duties as outlined in Article II, Section 2a.; f. initiating independent projects upon consent of the ASUR President; g. upholding and enforcing Article XII, which may be appealed to the Judicial Council; h. overseeing constitutional adherence in ASUR Cabinet and addressing issues with Judicial Council; i. completing a minimum of 15 office hours a week; j. being in good academic standing as defined by the University. k. working with the ASUR President to create the agenda before meetings; l. distributing agendas during the meeting; m. emailing meeting minutes to all ASUR Cabinet members and the ASUR Cabinet Advisor within 24 hours of the meeting; n. being responsible for implementing legacy projects or binders; o. overseeing the administration of all ASUR Communications outlets 6 including, but not limited to: the student newspaper, the student yearbook, the student radio station, and all social media channels; p. recommending a student communication budget to the ASUR President for approval to then be ratified by the Senate; q. sitting as a representative of ASUR on any and all advisory, editorial, and oversight committees for communication outlets; r. holding biweekly meetings and check-ins with the student editors and managers of the student communication outlets; s. responsible for any and all official ASUR press releases, University announcements, and other communication distributions in coordination with the ASUR President and Cabinet departments; t. maintaining an archive of all official Student Communications documents, records, and standard operating procedures including the student newspaper charter and the student yearbook charter;

The duties of the Executive Director(s) of Clubs and Organizations shall include but not be limited to: a. being responsible for recommending all members of the Club and Organization Advisory Board, here and after referred to as COAB, along with a budget to the ASUR President for approval to then be ratified by the Senate; b. The duties of COAB shall include but not be limited to: i. being responsible for disbursing a discretionary fund, to be allocated in the ASUR budget, to assist in co-sponsoring faculty, club and organization, ASUR, and interdepartmental nonConvocation projects according to its standard operating procedures. ii. selecting a minimum of six students: 1. the Executive Director(s) of Clubs and Organizations shall serve as the chair; 9 2. the Executive Director(s) of Clubs and Organizations shall create, revise, and review applications for possible new members. iii. assisting in coordination and implementation of semesterly leadership conferences and involvement fairs and a COAB awards banquet. c. being responsible for the oversight, coordination and implementation of all aspects of COAB; d. completing a minimum of 10 office hours per week. e. maintaining in coordination with the ASUR Vice President, an archive of all official COAB documents, records, and standard operating procedures including the charter; i. at the end of every semester, the Executive Director(s) of Clubs and Organizations must obtain an upto date member roster and constitution of all active clubs and organizations; ii. throughout the year, the Executive Director(s) of Clubs and Organizations must maintain an updated roster of the presidents of each club or organization, their contact information, and whether the club is active or inactive. f. being responsible for implementing legacy projects or binders in coordination with the ASUR Vice President.

The duties of the Greek Life Representative(s) shall include, but not be limited to: a. helping to foster positive communication between ASUR and the Greek community; b. attending Greek Council and Cabinet meetings. They are to express questions and concerns of the Greek community to the Cabinet and any concerns of the Cabinet to the Greek community; c. meeting with the Director of Greek Life once a week; 12 d. helping to integrate the Greek community into the campus community through support of the Cabinet; including Greek involvement, image, awareness, and support; e. initiating and implementing two independent projects such as the Greek Cup each semester, with the collaboration and consent of the ASUR President, Director of Greek Life, and Greek Council; f. prior to appointment, an application process for the Greek Representative(s) position will occur. An applicant shall be appointed by the ASUR President based upon recommendation from Greek Council and applications from the candidates: i. if the ASUR President is not content with the applicant(s) recommended for this position, additional recommendations for this position may be requested from Greek Council. ii. there shall be one member from a fraternity and one member from a sorority; 1. if one position is left open, the ASUR President may approach Greek Council and determine if the empty position is to be filled or reach a consensus that the appointed officiate is capable of representing fraternities and sororities equally. g. during recruitment and rush the Greek representative(s) serve as a neutral party and may not wear their letters in any manner except at their specific organization’s house and/or during one of their organization’s events; h. completing a minimum of 6 office hours per week. If there are two representatives, at least two office hours must be together; i. maintaining acceptable requirements of affiliation with the Greek community and ASUR Cabinet; j. being responsible for implementing legacy projects or binders in coordination with the ASUR Vice President.

The Senate Chair shall serve for the length of one entire school year, contingent on good behavior, and will be the chief spokesperson for the Senate: i. the Senate Chair shall serve as President of the Senate and as an ex-officio member of the Cabinet. The Chair shall establish the agenda, facilitate Senate meetings and see that the Senate committee positions are published in a campus-wide publication; ii. the Senate Chair shall be responsible for setting and enforcing the administrative procedures for the Senate not specified herein; iii. the Senate Chair shall post the agenda of each meeting 48 hours before the corresponding meeting; iv. the Senate Chair shall meet with the Director of Residence Life and Housing at least bi-weekly; v. the Senate Chair shall complete a minimum of 10 office hours per week.

The duties of the Executive Director(s) of Peer Education shall include but not be limited to: a. facilitating meetings once a week with the committee, attending weekly advising meetings, and serving as a resource to the committee members by providing material and information; 11 b. training committee members to create and facilitate programs; c. recommending the Certified Peer Educators; also known as committee members, hereinafter referred to as the CPE’s, and a Peer Education budget to the President for approval to then be ratified by the Senate. The duties of the CPE’s shall include but not be limited to: i. being responsible for coordinating and implementing all peer education programs; ii. assisting in the coordination and implementation of all peer education programs as well as offering to assist and co-sponsor with other campus groups who choose to host peer education programs; iii. The Secretary of Peer Education will be specifically responsible for taking detailed minutes during meetings and sending the notes to the directors in 24 hours; d. being responsible for the oversight, coordination, and implementation of all aspects of Peer Education; e. holding SMART classes for conduct violations; f. completing a minimum of 10 office hours a week ; i. if the position is split into two Co-Executive Directors, they shall each complete a minimum of 7 office hours per week; g. maintaining, in coordination with the ASUR Vice President, an archive of all official Peer Education documents, records and standard operating procedures including the charter; h. being responsible for implementing legacy projects or binders in coordination with the ASUR Vice President

The duties of the Executive Director(s) of Social Affairs shall include but not be limited to: a. selecting the Directors of the Social Affairs Committees, hereinafter referred to as the Social Affairs Committee Directors, and recommending a Social Affairs budget to the ASUR President for approval to then be ratified by the Senate. The duties of the Social Affairs Committee Directors shall include but not be limited to: i. being responsible for coordinating and implementing the social programming of their committee; ii. being responsible for a volunteer committee composed of students at large, chaired by said Social Affairs Committee Director, to help with advising and implementing their respective programs. b. being responsible for the oversight, coordination and implementation of all aspects of Social Affairs including its departments; c. making every effort to generate a diverse range of social programming on campus including, but not limited to, the polling of the campus twice-yearly on past and future social affairs programming and working in cooperation with the Executive Director(s) of Inclusion; d. completing a minimum of 10 weekly office hours in SLIC; e. maintaining, in coordination with the ASUR Vice President, an archive of all official Social Affairs documents, records and standard operating procedures including the charter; f. being responsible for implementing legacy projects or binders in 8 coordination with the ASUR Vice President.

The duties of the Judicial Chair shall include but not be limited to: a. being responsible for gathering applications for positions on the Judicial Council. Selected applicants will then be forwarded to the Senate who must approve each open position by a 2/3 vote; b. establishing an agenda, facilitating Council meetings and enforcing the operating procedures established by the Judicial Council and the Constitution; c. allowing a suspension of the Constitution in order to allow an unconstitutional process to be expedited, upon request of the ASUR President, the Senate Chair, the Executive Director(s) of Clubs and Organizations, or the Director of Leadership and Involvement. The reason for a suspension must be explained to the ASUR President, the Director of Leadership and Involvement, and the requester by the Judicial Chair; d. every fourth year following the Fall 2013 / Spring 2014 academic year, the Judicial Chair shall fulfill the responsibilities entailed in a Constitutional Revision Year as outlined in Article IX; e. submitting the final changes of the Constitution, following Constitutional Revision Year, to the University of Redlands Archives. f. being responsible for the tasks of the Elections Commissioner— whose duties can be found in ABL VIII A Section 1

The duties of the Executive Director(s) of Inclusion (EDI) shall include but not be limited to: a. coordinating diversity, gender, and sexuality discussions and programs at the University of Redlands and to represent their interests within ASUR; b. functioning as a liaison for students, ASUR, the three Centers noted in Article II, section 12e, as well as various other entities on campus as needed; c. providing funding to diversity groups for programs/events: i. funding co-sponsorship events throughout the semester. d. developing and implementing a minimum of three inclusion programs, open to the campus, as well as implementing any independent project or programming with the collaboration of the Associate Dean of Campus Diversity and Inclusion; 10 e. attending intern meetings related to the Pride, Women’s, and Multicultural Centers; f. attending the United Diversity Leadership Council meetings; g. coordinating with the Director(s) of the Multi-Cultural Festival: i. the duties of the Director(s) of the Multi-Cultural Festival shall include but not be limited to: 1. being/becoming a member of the United Diversity Leadership Council (UDLC); 2. working with the Associate Dean for Campus Diversity and Inclusion on the Multi-Cultural Festival; 3. holding set office hours in the Multicultural Center Intern Office; 4. creating a committee composed of students at large to help with advising and implementing their respective programs; 5. coordinating and implementing the programming of their committee. h. encouraging diversity groups to collaborate in order to promote their programs; i. creating a safe campus environment for all students by fostering discussions and programming; j. completing a minimum of 10 weekly office hours: 5 hours in SLIC and 5 hours in the Center for Campus Diversity and Inclusion; k. maintaining, in coordination with the ASUR Vice President, an archive of all official EDI documents, records, and standard operating procedures, including this outline pertaining to the Executive Director of Inclusion (EDI) position; l. being responsible for implementing legacy projects or binders in coordination with the ASUR Vice President.

The duties of the Facilitator of Johnston ASUR Relations shall include but not be limited to: a. Facilitator must attend Johnston community, Academic Policy Committee, and ASUR Cabinet meetings. They are to express questions, concerns, progress, and opportunities between the constituents of ASUR and the Johnston community; 13 b. actively focusing on fostering a relationship between Johnston and the College of Arts and Sciences; i. specifically works with internal transfer students to assist them in understanding the Johnston academic process and encouraging involvement in the community. c. creating an understanding and facilitating communication between Johnston and the entire University community; d. regularly collaborating with Johnston leadership to ensure a shared commitment to the vision and mission of the Johnston community; e. serving as an advocate to the University of Redlands campus community for the sustained awareness of the Johnston academic and community process; f. prior to appointment, an application process for the Facilitator of Johnston Relations position will occur. An applicant shall be appointed by the ASUR President: i. based on the results of a consensus process with Johnston community, appointees should be mutually consented upon between both the ASUR President and a representative committee of the Johnston community. ii. initiating and implementing one independent project each semester, with the collaboration and consent of the ASUR President, Director of Johnston Center for Integrative Studies, and the entire Johnston community; g. completing a minimum of 8 office hours a week; h. being responsible for implementing legacy projects or binders in coordination with the Vice President.

The duties of the Sustainability Representative(s) shall include but not be limited to: a. coordinating sustainability initiatives of various types at the University of Redlands and representing the interests of sustainability within ASUR; b. functioning as a liaison for ASUR and various offices and clubs in regards to sustainability; c. providing funding to sustainability groups for programs and events; 14 d. developing and implementing a minimum of three sustainability programs, open to the campus; as well as implementing any independent project or program with the collaboration of Professor(s) in the Environmental Studies Department; e. being responsible for the development and implementation of the Green Council, which is comprised of leaders from various sustainability groups on campus; i. attendance by a member of any group, club, or organization to all monthly Green Council meetings is mandatory in order to qualify for funding from the Sustainability Representative’s budget. ii.Green Council meetings will occur twice a month. f. completing a minimum of 8 weekly office hours in SLIC and/or the various locations pertaining to said sustainability initiatives; g. maintaining, in coordination with the ASUR Vice President, an archive of all official Sustainability Representative documents, records, and standard operating procedures, including this outline pertaining to the Sustainability Representative position; h. being responsible for implementing legacy projects or binders in coordination with the ASUR Vice President.

The Executive Director of Finance, hereafter referred to as EDF, will be in charge of the issues regarding finance within ASUR. The EDF shall be nominated by the ASUR President, must have no prior Student Life conduct issues, be confirmed by the Senate, and shall serve for a term of one year. The duties of the EDF shall include but not be limited to: a. upon request by any member of student government shall impartially analyze all proposed budgets, legislation, initiatives, and amendments concerning budget issues or concerns and submit to SG: b. maintaining, in coordination with the ASUR Budget Director, the financial records of all areas of ASUR including discretionary accounts and club and organizations accounts; i. only the ASUR Budget Director, EDF, COAB Director, the president and treasurer of a club or organization are able to access that particular club or organization's account balance and transactions; c. informing the Judicial Council of improper financial transactions, requests and records; d. assisting and educating all areas of ASUR including clubs and organizations in maintaining proper financial records; e. submitting a monthly budget report to the President and Senate; f. upholding the following guidelines pertaining to club and organizations budgets: 7 i. audit and enforce club and organizations budgets and financial records; ii. inform clubs and organizations of deficit budgets and set up a meeting with them within two weeks of deficit notification to discuss budget and fundraising strategies; g. completing a minimum of 10 weekly office hours in SLIC; h. maintaining, in coordination with the ASUR Vice President, an archive of all official EDF documents, records, and standard operating procedures; i. being responsible for implementing legacy projects or binders in coordination with the ASUR Vice President.

The duties of the ASUR President shall include but not be limited to: a. creating executive boards and establishing a charter governing the operations of these boards and committees. This charter is subject to ratification by Senate through a majority vote; b. appointing, after consultation with the outgoing officer and ratification by the Senate, all officers of SG whose appointments are not herein otherwise provided for; c. having the power to remove, with stated cause, all appointed officers in the executive branch of SG as outlined in ABL VII; d. drawing up and submitting the working budget of ASUR to the Senate; e. having the power to veto all legislation of SG within seven working days of its passage; f. serving as chief representative and spokesperson of ASUR SG with the power to negotiate on its behalf or delegate that power to members of ASUR as seen fit. Additionally, the President shall be able to enter into formal agreements on behalf of ASUR with consent of the majority of Senate; g. being responsible for and overseeing the administration of SG; h. executing all measures adopted by the Senate or ruled upon by the Judicial Council; i. coordinating and collaborating relations with other student associations and the University administration; j. initiating independent presidential projects; k. completing a minimum of 20 office hours a week; l. if SG is requested to send a representative to sit on any type of committee, the Senate shall have the option to first serve on these committees. If no Senator wishes to serve, then the President shall appoint said representative; m. providing the Senate with informational applications for the ASUR Cabinet nominees. These applications must be submitted to the Senate no later than one week before confirmation hearings; n. attending the faculty committee as an ex officio member with the intent to be a liaison between faculty and students. The ASUR President’s involvement will include but not be limited to: 4 i. being a non-voting member of this body; ii. maintaining confidentiality of issues discussed unless otherwise instructed; iii. being required to leave for executive sessions as well as any other time asked by the faculty committee; iv. instructing the ASUR Vice President to attend in the place of the ASUR President if the ASUR President cannot attend the meeting. o. obtaining approval from the Director of Leadership and Involvement to participate in other on-campus involvements that fall outside the normal duties of the ASUR President: i. being a non-voting member of this body. p. the ASUR President may not hold any other position paid by the University.
