5 Things I Wish Knew As A Freshman At UK

1. Don't take 8 a.m. classes!

Unless you are absolutely a morning person, I would not recommend taking any 8 a.m. classes. They are too early and nothing like your high school classes.

2. Wait to buy your textbooks!

Wait till after your first week of classes to buy your textbooks. Professors will tell you if you need them and you don’t want to spend money on books you may never even open!

3. Utilize The Study.

If you are having trouble with any of your classes whether it be math, chemistry, or any of the common UK Core classes, go to the Study! You have the opportunity to get help from your peers who have gone through the same classes you are currently in!

4. Take UK 101.

This course is designed to help students transition to university life and is taught by an upperclassmen and faculty mentor. You will be taking it with fellow freshman and it is a great way to meet new people as well!

5. Get a Planner!

With all the different assignments, tests, quizzes and events having a planner is essential to keeping yourself organized and prepared.
