Which Of The Stages Of Grief Are You Going Through While Job Hunting?

When you're having trouble finding things to apply to, which thing do you go to for comfort?

Are you still living with your parents?

What are your thoughts on doing cover letters?

What do you think about your resume?

What song defines your life right now?

Do you feel like you do well in interviews?

Choose a face that describes how you feel when you see a job posting you like.

What do you REALLY want to say when people tell you to "keep looking?"

How do you feel when you see people boasting about their jobs on social media?

You've been searching hard, and you have to admit, you're disappointed that you haven't found anything yet. Your fingers can only take so much cover letter writing, and your hands are beginning to cramp from scrolling through so many job postings. But don't give up yet! You still have a long way (and stages) to go.

STAGE ONE: Disappointment

At this point, you're pretty fed up. Fed up with putting your resume in TWICE on job applications. Fed up of friends and family nagging you with: "have you found anything yet?" Careful with the inner rage though. Find a way to release the negative emotions in a more positive direction, and you might just get your groove back.

STAGE TWO: Frustration

This stage brings about the tendency to mope around the house, take solace in guilty pleasures, and yes, possibly results in bouts of crying. Hang in there though. The search isn't over and you'll need to gather some resolve to make it through.

STAGE THREE: Sorrow

Okay, this is a setback. A major setback. Sorrow has spiraled into the thought that you may never get anything. Ever. Your life will pass you by in slow anguish as your finances dwindle. All hope is officially lost--unless you learn how to keep putting yourself out there.

STAGE FOUR: Hopelessness

Let's forget silly things like anger and sadness. You're way past that. You're struggling to come out of the darkness and head towards that shiny white light of employment. You have a renewed fighting spirit to keep applying--even though that fighting spirit CAN feel a bit crazy and desperate sometimes.

STAGE FIVE: Desperation

Alright. You've mourned, screamed, cried, and even gone through hysterical laughter at the job hunt madness. However, you're staying strong and you have faith that things will turn in your favor. Keep up the hard work and you'll win in the end.

STAGE SIX: Determination
