The "Blade Runner 2049" Trailer Is Here To Give Us A Look Into Our Future

The world surprisingly still exists, but it looks pretty bleak.

On May 8th, Sony dropped the trailer for Blade Runner 2049, the long-awaited sequel to the 1982 sci-fi cult classic Blade Runner.

The film sees Harrison Ford reprising his role as bounty hunter (and possible replicant) Rick Deckard.

Joining Ford is Ryan Gosling as LAPD Officer K, who uncovers a secret that could bring humanity to an end.

The film also features Jared Leto as replicant manufacturer Wallace...

And Ana de Armas as the mysterious Joi.

The film, directed by Denis Villeneuve (Arrival), uses the same dystopian neo-noir imagery of Ridley Scott's original, with muted greens, blues and blacks, and the ever-present fog and rain.

The new trailer, however, featured several scenes bathed in an amber glow that wasn't seen in the original.

It also possibly gives a nod to the origami unicorn Deckard found at the end of the original film, which sparked thousands of "is Deckard a replicant or not" theories.

Blade Runner 2049 hits theaters October 6th, 2017.
