This Taylor Swift "Folklore" Theme Photoshoot Gives Me All The Feels

Three Swifties from Virginia came together and created an epic styled photoshoot based on the newest Taylor Swift album, Folklore, and nailed it.

    How It Got Started

Klarissa, Dana, and Suzanna, three photographers from Hampton Roads, Virginia, wanted to use their love for Taylor Swift and create a photoshoot inspired by the latest album, Folklore. When you put these three girls together, with different editing styles, you come up with a cap full of inspiration and ideas.

    Klarissa

"It all started with a song and I thought to myself, "why is she singing about my exact life?" It was at that very moment I fell in love with her music. I wanted to create a Taylor Swift inspired shoot because I’ve been a huge fan since 2009. Friends and family know me as “the girl who loves Taylor Swift” and I’m not mad about it! I’ve seen her in concert 7 times and have never had the opportunity to meet her backstage during loft ‘89 or rep room. So why not recreate her newest looks from Folklore and pretend to have her right here in Virginia along with other swifties. This has given us the opportunity to be creative, while also sharing the same passion for photography and fan girl over Taylor."

    Dana

"The first time I saw Taylor Swift play was back when she was opening up for Rascal Flatts in Hershey, PA. I think I was 12? Ever since then, I have become a huge fan. Three times I had bought tickets to go see her and all three times, something happened (military, sickness, and then COVID). When Klarissa posted on Instagram about doing a Folklore shoot, I never typed a message as fast as I did then. This was the perfect way for me to show my creative side and love for Taylor. Plus, getting to make some new photography friends along the way was a bonus."

    Suzanna

“When Taylor's first album dropped in 2006 I was captivated. 14 years later nothing has changed. Whenever I hear a song from her debut album I'm transported back to driving around with my older sister, windows down, with Taylor blasting through the speakers as we both would sing along. For my 18th birthday my parents gifted me tickets to Taylor Swift's Fearless tour. August 29, 2009 it was my first concert EVER. Still to this day it's the best concert I've ever been to. I joined in on this Styled Session because of my love for Taylor's music and to pay homage to the joy it has brought me over the years.”

    Why Folklore?

I mean... why not? We love her new album. This is a different side of T-Swift we loved seeing. It's an album that is not one where you can skip songs, and the creative writing in the lyrics is one that we just had to go off of and create something with our imagination.

    The Color Pallet

    Meet Betty

Betty swiftly (see what I did there) becomes one with the trees and the grass. Used here are a variety of outfit ideas and inspiration directly from the album images itself.

    Model: Jessica Phillips

    Meet James

Of course, we cannot forget about dear old James and his love for skateboards and Levi Jeans.

    James + Betty = <3

In the area where these photographers live was a park with tall trees and thickets. Different outfits were used here such as the dark teal dress from Shein, a white dress from Vencano, a dark jacket from Levi's, and the Cardigan from the Merch Store.

One Single Thread Of Gold Tied Me To You.

We grew up using pinky promise as a way to keep our word. Holding pinkies was also a sign of love and intimacy. I love how they added the single gold thread into this part of the shoot.

    The Last Great American Dynasty

Dana asked three people if she could borrow their white dog and dye it key-lime green. Each one said no. Party poopers. So, she found a pillow pet on Amazon. Close enough, right?

    Take Me To The Lakes

A hidden gem of the album - it's about escaping and being free. They really loved the idea of Taylor in a plaid dress with her black boots along the lake. The sun had just started to set and was perfect timing to end the shoot.

    Classic Swift

Adding a "typical" Taylor Swift shot or two was a must. Suzanna had a guitar, and they knew this field was perfect for some layering shots and side angles.

    Because She's A Mirrorball

    A Swiftie's Wildest Dreams

Folklore is an album that is different than her previous ones, but people still love it and wanted to showcase their love for it. This photoshoot is a great example of coming together to be creative, having fun, and reminding yourself why you love doing photography. Klarissa, Dana, and Suzanna all had visions and dreams about this Folklore Styled Photoshoot. By being a team, those visions were brought to life.
