Weed is either legal or decriminalized — which means that you can possess small amounts for personal use — in more places around the world than ever before.

And better yet, many of these states and countries happen to be INSANELY beautiful, too — i.e. the perfect spots to just ~chill~ and take it all in after you get baked.

So without further residue, here are 16 gorgeous, weed-friendly destinations around the world. Check out Bud and Breakfast, the Airbnb for stoners across the world, for pot-positive accommodations in select places. Happy (trail) blazing!*

*Of course, smoking weed in public in most places is not allowed, so try to do it in private, or be very discreet in public spaces. Also, do your own research before you go, because the weed laws in each country are constantly changing. And finally, just because a destination is on this list does not mean that you have the green light to blaze freely. You should still always exercise caution, keep a low profile, and use your best judgment — especially as a visitor.

1. Colorado

Recreational marijuana was legalized here in January 2014, which means you can legally possess up to one ounce of marijuana while you're there, as long as you're over 21. As a traveler, you can buy a quarter of an ounce with each transaction. Advice: Get blazed and then go ~relax~ in one of Colorado's many scenic lookouts. This one is called Maroon Bells — the bells are two peaks in the Elk Mountains — but the entire state is pretty much this beautiful, so you do you.

2. Washington

Recreational cannabis was legalized in Washington in July 2014, making it the second state in the U.S. to make the move. Like Colorado, adults can possess up to one ounce of retail marijuana, but unlike Colorado, out-of-staters can buy as much as residents (one ounce). Also like Colorado, there are a bajillion scenic spots to chill when you're high. This beautiful one is in Crown Point State Park, one of the state's most breathtaking natural landscapes.

3. Alaska

In February of this year, Alaska became the third state to legalize recreational marijuana. Sadly, it's still not legal to buy it unless you have a medical card — so you will have to be resourceful. We ~highly~ suggest a) getting to Alaska in the first place, and b) checking out the Northern Lights — or Aurora Borealis — once you're baked. Can you even imagine the heady thoughts that will run through your mind as you're gazing up at a magical lightshow in the sky?!

4. Oregon

Recreational marijuana was JUST legalized here, on July 1, 2015, so you'll be a part of history if you go. Like Alaska, you can't buy it unless you have a medical card — but word on the street is that it's fairly easy to get the stuff anyway. Once you're stoned, hit up one of Oregon's countless beautiful spots, like this one from Sunriver, a 3,300-acre census-designated community.

5. Costa Rica

Possession of small amounts of marijuana is decriminalized in Costa Rica, and as a result, there is a pretty big weed scene there. Of course, don't go parading around your stash in public, but it's cool to get high and then go watch some of the country's legendary and world-renowned sunsets. This one is in Tamarindo, a small surf town in the North, close to the Nicaraguan border.

6. Jamaica

Weirdly, weed was just decriminalized in Jamaica this year, in February. People can now possess up to two ounces of marijuana — even though everyone thought it's been legal for decades because the country is so chill about it anyway. Your mission: Get baked and then bake in the sun at one of the crystal-clear beaches like this one, Winnifred Beach in Port Antonio.

7. Uruguay

Uruguay is a great place for stoners. And that is because weed is legal there! You can't buy it, though, but you can smoke it. It's a free world down there, so you can get high and then go hang at one of the country's super-chill beaches, like this one.

8. Ecuador

Weed is decriminalized here, too — you can possess up to 10 grams. Imagine getting stoned and then chilling in these mountains in Zaruma, Ecuador ...

9. Colombia

Weed has been decriminalized here since 1994. You can possess up to 22 grams without being charged! Be sure to explore the mountains and the hills — the country is filled with them, and they are all beautiful. These are the hills surrounding La Piedra Del Penol, a monolithic rock formation in Guatapé that's millions of years old.

10. Peru

Weed is decriminalized in Peru — you can have up to eight grams without being punished. That makes it plausible that you could see Macchu Picchu while you're high, which basically means new levels of epicness.

11. Argentina

Don't you want to just go chill under that tree forever? It's in Bahai Lapataia National Park, in Ushuaia, Argentina. And it will be even better after a joint, which is totally possible because cannabis is decriminalized for personal use in small amounts. There is not a limit as to how much you can have, so use your best judgment.

12. Christiania, Denmark

So marijuana is NOT legal in Denmark, EXCEPT for in this weird little bubble that's actually within Copenhagen, the capital. Christiania is a self-proclaimed autonomous neighborhood, which basically means that it's got its own laws separate from the Danish government — including an "open cannabis trade."

Head to "Pusher Street," where you can buy anywhere from one gram to several kilos, and then stroll around the streets and admire pretty views like this one.

13. The Netherlands

In The Netherlands, you can have up to five grams of marijuana in public, and possession is legal in coffeeshops and decriminalized for public use. So head to one of Amsterdam's bajillion coffeeshops, and then go explore the city's beautiful canals.

14. Portugal

In 2001, Portugal became the first country to decriminalize the use of all drugs, and remains one of the most progressive countries in the world in terms of drug policies. Under that law, you can possess up to 25 grams of marijuana for "personal use." So after you smoke, go explore the beautiful colors all around the country, as seen in this neighborhood in Lisbon.

15. Cambodia

Weed is decriminalized here, and the laws are very ~loose.~ It's a very common sight to see people buying and smoking marijuana in public, so keep your wits about you and act accordingly. There are even many "happy" restaurants, which serve marijuana-infused foods. Wouldn't it be dope to dine at a "happy" restaurant, and then go check out one of these killer sunsets?

16. Nepal

Blazing in Nepal, which should be fine because it's decriminalized and widely available there, is almost too stereotypically stoner to even discuss: "Yeah man, I'm gonna go get Zen with the Buddhists in Nepal, maaan..." But the thing is, you can do that. And it would be a beautiful, beautiful experience.
