BlueBox Records is a branch off of another student run venture at Millikin called First Step Records. BlueBox offers Millikin students, and others, to get their own music produced, manufactured, promoted and distributed.

Opening their doors in Downtown Decatur in 2003, Blue Connection is focused on arts and specialty businesses, the retail location is used by students in Millikin's Arts & Entrepreneurship Program to grow their businesses. Products are designed and crafted by the students who sell them.

A student-owned and operated press located on Millikin University's campus, Bronze Man Books is dedicated to integrating quality design and meaningful content. The company exposes undergraduate students to the process of publishing by combining the theory of writing, publishing, editing and designing with the practice of running a book publishing company. This emphasis on performance learning is a hallmark of Millikin's brand of education.

Dr. Stephen Frech, Millikin associate professor of English, and Millikin University students formed Blue Satellite Press in 2008 with a mission of printing high-quality letterpress poetry broadsides. Students solicit previously unpublished work from contemporary poets, and then design a broadside that showcases what they admire in the poem. Students learn the aspects of design and print production that letterpress printing encourages.

Carriage House Press is located in the former carriage house on the James Millikin Homestead and was founded in 2009 by Millikin University professor Lyle Salmi. It features a German etching press in honor of the late Ray George, noted print maker, teacher, and valued colleague.  
This student-run business is Decatur’s only fine art printmaking studio and is available for rental by interested artists. Our facilities allow printmaking students the opportunity to work alongside visiting artists in a professional printmaking studio. Students also have the opportunity to assist in all aspects of the studio including conducting printmaking workshops, working on special projects, and scheduling various events.

Carriage House Press

As a student venture founded by the Center for Entrepreneurship and the Department of Theatre and Dance, Pipe Dreams is comprised of and completely run by Millikin students with a passion for the performing arts. It offers a full season of great performance experiences in musical theatre and drama each year. Housed in a 90-seat blackbox theatre, audiences can expect casual, high quality shows that tear down walls and challenge viewers to think.

Provides a platform for students to develop on a personal and professional level, and ensure that the technical projects they work on add value to the surrounding community.

Millikin University Performance Consulting IT

At Millikin University, the Department of Exercise Science and Sport (ESS) students have a unique opportunity for undergraduate majors. The final examination of the Principles of Strength and Conditioning course (ES418) is the National Council on Strength and Fitness personal training certification exam. Upon successfully passing the exam, students become nationally accredited certified personal trainers. This provides much opportunity and opens up more doors for additional career paths for students. It also enables them to pursue jobs in the field earlier than students at other Universities.

"Blue Brew is a collaboration between Millikin, Hickory Point Bank and the downtown community," said Jesse Sargeant, a senior entrepreneurship major from Decatur. "It's not just us making a coffee shop for ourselves, it's helping Millikin students learn and it's giving the community somewhere to go to get coffee and enjoy their time downtown."

The Millikin Arts Café is an entrepreneurial endeavor run by the students for the community. Our goal is to provide an artistically eclectic environment in which artists of all creative arts can come to showcase their talents.
