5 Stereotypical "Movember" Styles You Will See This Month

For those of you who are unaware, "Movember" is an annual event involving the growing of mustaches during the month of November to raise awareness for men's health issues such as suicide, prostate cancer, and testicular cancer. It is also a great excuse for men to grow out their facial hair for a good cause. Some are blessed with the great skill of mastering the perfect mustache while others may go for the full beard to stache look. Either way, let us take a look at the classic hairy looks that you'll come across in November. (Note I am not poking fun at anyone trying to participate in a great event for a great cause).

The Good Try

This is a classic "close but no cigar" look that will show up within the first couple weeks in November. This is the guy who has never really tried to grow out his facial hair but all of his boys are doing it so he'll give it a go. It will normally look like errant hairs on the upper lip or chin. This guy will also probably shave within the first week or 2 to save himself some embarrassment.

The Pencil

The pencil stache is an iconic style that is not always a terrible look if you can pull it off. However, when done wrong it can just look flat-out creepy. Pairing it with a goatee is always a safe bet to avoid looking like the creepy guy with some hair on his upper lip.

The Frenchie

Also known as "the artist". A difficult maneuver but can look pretty awesome when pulled off correctly. This takes a lot of time and effort along with the genes to get a lot of whiskers going on the sides of the upper lip. This look takes a lot of mirror time and a decent amount of wax going on the ends of your stache. Also, you won't start seeing some progress until mid November.

The All-American

Shout out to Hulk Hogan for perfecting this bad-ass look. The full "horseshoe" mustache is always a fun look to pull off. It is basically a nice full stache with a sweet set of handlebars. This look definitely takes some time to perfect as you might need to get the full beard going and then shave it down for its fullest effect. However, when done right, it just looks manly no matter what you look like.

The Freddie Mercury

This was a tough choice between Mr. Mercury, Tom Selleck, and Burt Reynolds. It is just an overall awesome mustache. Full, bushy, and well-manicured. If you pulled this one off then you probably raised a bunch of money because you flat out won Movember. This is a talent you cannot teach, you are simply born with this gift. Hats off to this guy walking around with a thick caterpillar on his upper lip.
