Start a new physical activity
Try a yoga class, spinning, swimming, or dance. Since it is a new activity, there won't be previous and potentially hurtful memories tied to it. Release endorphins and channel any negative energy into focusing on your new activity.

BLAST Kesha, Pink, Beyoncé, Rihanna, Taylor, Lorde, Adele, Fifth Harmony, Charlie XCX, Daya, Avril Lavigne, Aly & AJ, Destiny's Child, Fergie, Florence, Hailee Steinfeld, etc. JUST EMPOWER YOURSELF with female vocals. All the power of these ladies resides in you. Listen to it on your commute to work, walks to class, work outs, always. Make this bomb playlist the soundtrack of your life.
Make a change
Some people will do the post-break up hair cut or get a tattoo. If you feel like an area of your life needs change for you to be able to heal and move on. Do it.
Some processing techniques include painting, therapy, and, song writing. Explore and understand your feelings. Horrible things happen and you need to process that so it doesn't resurface when you don't want it to.
There are horrible people. Reflect on people you love and trust. It can even help to send them a thoughtful message about why they mean so much to you. The love will likely be reciprocated and everyone benefits from that.
