13 Things You Did During The Summer Vacations That Will Make You Wish You Were Back In School

If I had the ability to turn back time, I would bring back those "garmi ki chuttiyan" in an instant.

From going to your nani's house to guzzling down shikanji when you came back from a particularly intense round of kho-kho with your society friends, these memories always resurface, years later, as the month of May rolls around. Let's take a moment and relive those happy summer vacation days:

    1. Taking note of and dreading all the holiday homework for the next two months, only to do it in the last week.

    2. Summer vacation almost always consisted of long visits to your nani's house.

    3. Waiting for the bell of the kulfi wala or the ice cream cart so that you could beg your mother to let you have one last ice cream.

    4. Sitting in front of those huge metal coolers and arguing over who was going to fill water in the motor this time.

    5. And if there was no electricity — sitting with a hand-held fan as you cursed the department of power.

    6. The best part of summers however were, are, and will always be...mangoes.

    7. Watching as your nani laid out papads and chips to dry out in the afternoon sun, and you got to enjoy them later.

    8. Watching TV all day without any guilt whatsoever.

    9. The family vacations to Manali, Nainital, and Shimla once every two years.

    10. Playing card and board games like UNO, Monopoly, and Ludo all day long.

    11. Which reminds me — remember "Chubhti, jalti garmi"?

    12. Playing cricket, hide and seek, and kho kho with your friends every evening and sometimes even in the morning.

    13. Drinking Rasna, lassi, mango shake, and lemonade all day and everyday

I miss those summer vacations! Simpler times, could you please come back somehow?
