With the start of the Delaware Ice Hockey season coming around the corner, the players thought that they clue all of their fans in on some of the slang they use on the ice.
snipe [snahyp] noun: a really good shot that goes in a tiny space of the net
lettuce [let-is] noun: hair
celly [sell-E] noun: celebration
grocery stick [groh-suh-ree stik] noun: the guy who separates the fowards and the defense on the bench and doesn't move
hoser [hoh-zer] noun: the losers who had to hose off the ice in the old days of hockey
bender [ben-der] noun: someone who is so bad at skating that they bend their ankles
healthy scratch [hel-thee skrach] noun: a player who isn't hurt, but isn't playing
wheel [weel] verb: to skate fast
score [skawr] verb: something Justin wishes he could do
sewy pass [soo-E pas] noun: a bad pass
grinder [grahyn-der] noun: someone with no hockey skills but works hard for the team
top cheddar [top ched-er] noun: a shot to the top corner of the net
packed his lunch [pakt hiz luhnch] verb: to beat someone in a fight
tendy [ten-dee] noun: a goalie
goon [goon] noun: an unskilled hockey player who fights for the boys
butterfly [buht-er-flahy] verb: when the goalie goes down on the ice
nail gun [neyl guhn] noun: somebody that's tough
beauty legend [byoo-tee lej-uh nd] noun: someone who kills it off the ice
barn [bahrn] noun: the rink
