I’m not regretting ending things.

I’m glad I moved on.

I have a new life.

New friends.

Better prospects.

I have a real chance at the future I always wanted.

That I couldn’t have with you.

That you wouldn’t let me have with you.

I was ready for more in life.

You weren’t.

So I left.

I moved on.

Something I was threatening to do for a long time.

I shouldn’t be making comparisons.

At least not yet.

Everything is still so new.

So what if I don’t laugh like I used to with you.

Or have weird adventures or bizarre conversations like I used to.

No one will ever get me like you do.

Then again, you were the first to ever get me.

But I have to give it a real chance.

Of course nothing’s the same.

Or feels as right.

I was with you for four years.

My longest relationship ever!

That never went anywhere.

No matter how hard I pushed.

Or tried.

It just got worse and worse.

Every day became a struggle.

At the end I felt like I was suffocating.

I knew that If I didn’t get out soon, I’d end up hating you.

Something I never wanted.

But sometimes I think I do.

Not because you turned out to be a waste of time.

Or we because it didn't go anywhere.

But because what we had was beautiful and magical.

Yet by the end it wasn't worth it anymore.

You weren't worth it anymore.

What we had was for young college students who didn't know any better.

Or had a future so far off, nothing mattered enough to be taken seriously.

But the future hits like a ton of bricks.

I'm smarter now.

I want serious.

I just wish I could've had you too.

With you, it was all fun and games.

Now I stare constantly at a suit and tie.

That are admittedly kinda hot actually.

It can be fun but it's a lot of work.

More than I think I'm capable of.

It leaves me wondering if I was ready for this.

Quickly, I'm reminded I didn't have to try with you.

That's when the comparisons begin.

Leaving you was the right choice.

No regrets there.

I just wish my new beginning felt as easy as the three months before the end of our four years.
