"Have you ever driven to the store with a screaming newborn because their pacifier keeps falling out while they're in the back seat, and once you stopped three times before you even got out of your neighborhood you decided to just put on your 'mommy's in charge' panties and push through that hellish 15-minute drive to the store? If you have then you realize why people are willing to pay $14 for a pacifier that has a cute little kickstand attached to it. If you haven't, the first time you're 6 minutes in to that 15-minute drive you'll be cursing your frugality and whipping out your phone to get one on the fast track to your doorstep. The only reason I'm not giving it 5 stars is that my principles just can't let me feel great about paying $14 for a $1.50 pacifier tethered to a $0.50 stuffed animal from China... However, while I don't feel great about it, I feel okay enough about it to be ordering a second one, and for what it's worth, my miniature demolition machine of a 1-year-old boy hasn't managed to dismember it yet."

"Your sleep-deprived sanity is worth $14"

"So, this little guy floats around and lets me know if the water is too hot. Pretty basic, right? One might be offended, thinking, 'What the heck, I can tell the temperature of water for Pete's sake." But I, having grown up in the glorious days of hand-washed dishes, am said to be made of Teflon. I can pick up blazing-hot coffee and sip it right out of the pot. I've been known to yank hot soup out of the microwave with my bare hands. Is that pizza done yet? Let me stick my finger in it. Given that, I feel rather disqualified to determine water temp for my wee little newborn. The duck is nice. The duck is cute. The duck says HOT when my seared-to-the-point-of-unfeeling flesh says, 'Meh, feels a little tepid.' The duck keeps me from scalding my wee one. I do love the duck. If you're a lava-coffee-sipping, hot-dish-washing mom like me, you'll want the duck."
