    Is America Your Home?

Is America your home? To say the least the new president-elect Donald Trump has riled up a lot of controversy in the United States. Trump's supporters are ready to see him "Make America Great Again" while his non- supporters are angry that fellow citizens found him fit to take a seat in the Oval office. Along with the different emotions roaring in America have come opinions. These opinions are expressed heavily on social media websites like Facebook and Twitter. Many of the negative opinions about Trump are sprinkled with profanity and hatred, not to say all of the positive opinions are any better; many of them are messages filled with pride and arrogance. With all of the different emotions circulating the country it's important to step into each other's shoes and be understanding. This election I did vote for a candidate, knowing it was going to be tight race I became open to either candidate becoming president.

America will always have room for improvement so it is important to realize it is time to make America GREATER. There are logical and un-logical responses to Donald Trump being the new President of the United States. On Twitter there is a hashtag "NotMyPresident" trending, this is not logical. The decision is set and Trump is the President of the United States. Being dissatisfied with the outcome of the campaign is okay, not moving on is not okay. Let this be an opportunity to make a bigger difference next election. For the individuals who are ready for Trump to take office for ideas that matter to you like better economy, stronger military and more jobs, make it your job to convey your political views in a tasteful manner. This was a tough game that both teams played, for the better good of this country it's important to have good sportsmanship shake hands and move forward.

Many minority groups are afraid of what will happen to them under Trump's presidency. Contrary to popular belief Trump is not the guy to be afraid of. Trump was an instigator in this election, surfacing hateful feelings and thoughts of a special group of Americans. Although Trump may have shouted racially derogatory statements during his campaign he was talking out of his butt (for use of nicer terms). Trump is from the melting pot of the country it would be hard to believe that he would be that close minded. His goal was to appeal to his followers and evidentially his tactics were successful. As far as human right laws go it will take a lot for inhumane laws to be passed. I will be honest, the day after Trump won I walked around more conscious than usual. Being an African American woman I had a little fear that an extreme Trump supporter would make an attempt to begin unnecessary confrontation with me knowing nothing about my political preference, I mean most of us have witnessed the guy in the bar who caused a crazy scene because his team scored a touchdown, I did not want to be near that guy. "In God We Trust" we say, so… in God I trusted.

We all love a good party until that guy Politics walks in. In this case Politics brought his friends Democratic and Republican who can never seem to get along. Study the history of political parties in America and you'll see how much their ideologies have changed throughout history. The most popular parties today are The Democratic Party and The Republican Party also known as the GOP. In this recent election the Republican Party has taken over. Our president elect is a member of the Republican Party and the House is now run by the Republican Party. If you are a Republican it's an easy time to be proud, it is also an easy time to be arrogant. Although I am not a fan of parties, when I first registered to vote I made the democratic my party because I resonated with the Democratic Party's ideology. Democrats are often labeled as the lazy Americans who put their hands out to receive free things and stiff arm the country. Speaking for myself and many other hard working democrats, "lazy democrats" is a label that only a brainless human could administer. I have held a job since it was legally acceptable, I have never been associated with any government assistance programs, I am a Christian, I am a college student and I have not had to take out any loans, because my parents invested into my education at a very young age and I have two siblings who have very similar stories. As stated before I chose to be a democrat because I resonated more with Democratic ideologies, an individual's party affiliation does not determine their work ethic. In order to move forward as a country it is important to lose ignorant stereotypes and get more serious and open with our thought process.

There are 3 types of homes in America an unhappy home, a home perceived to the outside as a happy home, and a regular home. The regular home, that's the home where mom, dad, brother and sister fight day in and day out. The home where financial issues exists but they don't let it tear them apart. The home where not everyone is at the same level, not everyone has the same grades not everyone makes the same amount of money, not everyone looks the same, not everyone takes the same route in life and not everyone does the same tasks. That's the regular home. The most important part of the regular home is at the end of the day after everyone comes back from their different walks in life there is a mutual love between every individual and a hope to see each person grow and succeed. So ask yourself ….is America your home?
