A Day In The Life Of Your Friendly School Psychologist

From office closets to behavior management to IEP meetings and more, a day in the life of a school psychologist is always unpredictable, and we love it.

Sitting around waiting and wondering if the parent will actually show up to the IEP meeting...

When the parent brings their completed rating scales to the evaluation meeting... that you sent over a month ago.

When the teacher says they don't think the BIP applies anymore because they're not seeing any behaviors.

Or the teacher doesn't follow the BIP and complains about the behavior.

Being interrupted while testing a student despite having a clearly displayed "Do Not Disturb" sign on your door.

Getting to eat lunch during "normal" lunch hours.

    When Q Global stops working.

Getting rating scales back in a timely manner...

Telling someone about the Woodcock Johnson.

When somebody gets the title right.

    Enough said.

When a student is brought up for an ld evaluation with little to no data.

Getting a prescription for an IEP.

When a parent says they don't see any behaviors at home.

How I feel when a kid teaches me the newest dance moves.

When a parent calls the day of the IEP meeting to reschedule.

When a teacher comes to you because they're still seeing behaviors after putting an intervention in place for a week.

Sitting in a meeting you don't need to be at, thinking of all the other things you can be doing with your time...

When an elementary age student swears.

When a teacher says there's no antecedent to the behavior.

This one doesn't need an explanation.

Trying to stay on top of our caseload.

...and keep up with the paperwork that goes with it.

It's okay, friends. Just know you're not alone :)
