    On August 30, 2017, Hurricane Harvey slammed Texas, marking the strongest Hurricane to hit the United States since 2004. With over $23.4 billion of damages in just two Texas counties, people are coming together to do what they can to send aid down south. Check out which businesses are stepping up and playing a large role in sending relief funds and more to Texas.

    ModCloth

    ModCloth, a women’s vintage-style fashion, clothing and decor store, is matching donations through their website. For every dollar that customers donate through their ModCloth American Red Cross page, the business will match the donation to twice it’s value.     Target

    Target donated $500,000 on the first of September in aid to help the recovery efforts on the Gulf Coast. Target’s donation will be disbursed through both local and national organizations. This includes the American Red Cross, The Salvation Army, and Team Rubicon.

    Urban Outfitters

    Urban Outfitters designed two t-shirts, each of which are under $30, to be a part of the exclusive Urban Outfitters Community Cares collections. All of the proceeds will be donated to the Hurricane Harvey Relief Fund which is based at the Greater Houston Community Foundation.     Lyft

    Lyft, the app based transportation network company, is allowing users to round up their charges as a donation to the American Red Cross. These donations are tax deductible, and are available through the end of September. Additionally, Lyft has made a $100,000 donation tot he Hurricane Harvey Relief FUnd.

    Walgreens

    Walgreens initially donated $200,000 to the American Red Cross. The national company announced an additional donation program, where you can donate upon checkout. Donation totals topped over $3 million within twenty four hours, and reached over $5 million that following Friday. Aside from the donation program, Walgreens also donated food, first aid, and medical relief equipment.

    Budweiser

    The week following Hurricane Harvey, Anheuser Busch halted production of their beer to can water to damaged areas in Texas. They donated over 155,000 cans, and this isn’t the first time this company has done so. A few times throughout the year, they pause their production of beer to can water to have on hand for emergencies. They are also donating $25,000 to the Red Cross.

    Southwest Airlines

    Southwest Airlines Co. is donating half a million dollars to the Red Cross, and also donating 100 round trip tickets. These tickets are for volunteers from Team Rubicon to Houston, and also for those to get to shelters safely and cost free.
