How To Slay The DIY Halloween Costume Game

Five unique costume ideas that won't break the bank

1. Sushi Roll

This DIY look really is as easy as 1, 2, 3. To start, grab a white dress, or shirt and shorts, which you probably already have hidden in the back of your closet (we’ll make an exception even though it’s after labor day). Next, take a pillow and wrap it in a plain orange or green pillowcase. If you don’t have one, flip an old t-shirt inside out for an easy fix! Tie it to your back with a black scarf or piece of fabric. All that’s left is sneaking in to the nearest sushi restaurant to snag a pair of chopsticks. Top it off with a fun headband and you’re ready to roll!

An oversized sweater and pipe cleaners - it doesn’t get easier than that! If you don’t have a green sweater already, run to your nearest Walmart and grab an XL green t-shirt for the same look. However, a chunky sweater works best because it’s easy to slide the pipe cleaners through to attach. For this DIY look, you’ll need anywhere to 50-100 cut pipe cleaners depending on how prickly you’re feeling. Twist them on scattered throughout the shirt, and top it off with a pink bow for a headband! This look is totally Instagram worthy.

3. Get a little pun-ny!

Who doesn’t love a good riddle for a Halloween costume, especially with you can pair up with your bestie? Grab a pair of khakis, a tan shirt, some casual flats, and you’re halfway there! Print out OH! with printer paper and pin them to your shirt. With a little face makeup to draw on a nose, “Oh Dear!” has never been better. For a finishing touch, dig through your moms christmas boxes to find that one pair of antlers she wears for the family christmas card. Next, who doesn’t love a good cow costume? Whip out a pair of leggings, a white tee, and pin black shapes on it. With a little face paint and angel wings from the kids department, you and your BFF are guaranteed to slay the costume contest!

This has got to be the easiest DIY halloween costume, and one of the most fun! Grab a trash bag and some water balloons - that’s literally it! Cut arm holes and leg holes, and fill up with balloons! Now all you need is to print out the Jelly Belly logo, and viola! Just don’t get too close to the cactus costume.

5. Feelin' Salty

If you want something cute that still stands out, this costume is for you. Everyone knows the Morton Salt girl, you’ll just be the one to make it stylish! Pick up a yellow dress or coat, a pair of white tights, and your black umbrella. If you don’t have yellow shoes, toss on your converse to edge it up a bit. Finally, get out the salt container from your cabinet (let’s be honest, we all have one that’s been up there for at least 10 years). Ta Da!
