    My Weekends

What I do at the weekends?

    The Weekends

Weekends are special. We get to spend time together with my family. However, recently, we have learned to combine our fun time with chores. My son Roy was reluctant at first, but now he is ok with it. As for my daughter Jully, she gets excited with every new thing she discovers.

I have to confess the weekends are the only days when we make our beds. I set the example, and now both Jully and Roy do it automatically. We are supposed to do it during the weekdays too, but since we are always late, it never occurs.

After making the bed, we all meet in the kitchen. It is time for a real breakfast. We eat either pancakes or French toast with tons of syrup. Roy also likes to add toffee when we eat pancakes. Eggs, milk, orange juice and bacon are usually their picks. Sometimes I add some steamed vegetables or smashed potatoes. We prepare it all together, and I love the way we can work as a team. Even little Jully loves to help.

Jully's task is to set the table ready for breakfast. She already knows how to place the plates and glasses, as well as the forks and spoons. At first, I was afraid of her handling the knives, but she had a serious talk with me. She is very smart. She told me that she was a grown up girl now and that she could handle responsibilities. Jully was aware of the danger of knives, and she promised to be extra careful.

I never thought she could be so matured. I see her as the little baby she was the day she was born, and I am reluctant to the idea of her growing up. She is only 6, but she knows much more of life than I can imagine.

Roy prepares the juice. We like it natural, and he loves to play with oranges. He makes juggles while he is preparing it, and we all laugh at his jokes. While they are busy, I make the toast and eggs. When we chose to make smashed potatoes, Roy usually makes waffles, and we have them instead of pancakes.

It is so fun to prepare breakfast with them! We eat all together and then start with chores at home. It is very gratifying to be blessed with such supportive children.
