I Ranked All Of The OG Barbie Movies From My Least To Most Favorite, And You Can't Argue With Me

Mermaidia deserves more love.

This list will contain the Barbie movies that I have seen, both from my childhood years and now. I will mainly speak of the OG Barbie movies. I just wanted to do this for fun and show you all the nostalgia of the magic of Barbie again. Enjoy!

14. Barbie Presents: Thumbelina (2009)

Why did I put this last? It's because I know I have seen it, but not for many years. The only time I have watched this is when I was, like, 6, and I'm now months away from being an adult. But I remember it being cute. Other than that I have no memory of this movie whatsoever.

13. Barbie and the Magic of Pegasus (2005)

This is second-to-last. *sigh* I watched this with my best friend long ago when I was like 12 or so. I was really excited to see it but it wasn't how I expected the movie to go. I absolutely did not like the storyline at all and was so sad about it. But now at this age, I don't remember so much from it either, and maybe I need to watch it again. But seriously, I thought the pegasus was a regular magical pegasus, but just turned out to be Annika's long-lost sister. Then what's the point of having this movie being called Magic of Pegasus? Ugh! The only good parts of this movie were Annika's transformation and seeing those girls on the smaller pegasus, and changing clouds into other colours. Haha! I don't know anymore.

12. Barbie: Mariposa and her Butterfly Fairy Friends (2008)

I liked this movie. It wasn't the best but was likable. The only thing I really loved about the whole movie was that they were butterfly fairies! I think if I saw this as a little girl, then I would have been totally happy and I think my mom would say the same. Plus, Elina was the one narrating the whole thing which was cool. The sad part about this is that Kelly Sheridan didn't voice Mariposa, and I wish she did. Overall, an okay movie.

11. Barbie in The 12 Dancing Princesses (2006)

I don't remember this movie so well, because it's been a long time since I have seen it. I also watched this with my best friend long ago and though I think at the time she said that this was her favorite Barbie movie, I personally don't think so. From what I remember, these girls just want to dance and they can't do that, so they end up finding a secret magical garden and just dancing. While this is happening, an evil stepmother takes over when their father is sick or something. This overall is a very cute and pretty movie and I loved the storyline.

10. Barbie of Swan Lake (2003)

Even though I put this in tenth place, this movie deserves credit. I just LOVE the aesthetic in this movie, the colours, the outfits they wear, the scenery, the STORY, and of course the music itself by Tchaikovsky. I did not watch this as a kid, but when I watched this myself at one point, I was like: how come I did not watch this back then?! This movie looks nostalgic, honestly. Plus, Odette's dress was to die for, she looks sooooo gorgeous in it.

9. Barbie as The Island Princess (2007)

This movie is number 9, because I did not watch this as a kid, but when I was little there was a Barbie movie that I would always watch (we'll get to that movie further down the list) and this was the trailer before the movie started. The trailer showed Ro singing "Here On My Island" with the animals and then transforming into her dress at the end. So I have been waiting to watch this movie and I finally did. I thought it was good but it wasn't how I thought the movie would go, and I'm so glad that I got to hear "Here On My Island" in the movie this time because that song was the nostalgia for me at the time when I was little.

8. Barbie Fairytopia (2005)

Now we are getting to the fairy trilogy that I grew up with. The other two Fairytopia movies are further down because they are way better than this one, the best part of all of these movies is Bibble, I mean who doesn't love Bibble? So...yeah, that's all I have to say about this one. Moving on.

7. Barbie as The Princess and The Pauper (2004)

Now I did not watch this as a kid either, but watched it with a distant friend long ago when I was like 11. I also watched a trailer about this movie in a Land Before Time movie that was on TAPE (wow, I know I'm young but I feel old for some reason) and it showed Annelise and Erika singing "Free" for a very short time. I just fell in love with it and that song became nostalgic for me, as it did with "Island Princess." I am also mad that I did not watch this when I was little, and I wish I did. This movie however is almost nearly close to perfection, because of the scenery, the freaking story, and the songs. Oh my goodness, the songs were just beautiful. I mean all of them were terrific, for example: "Free" (my favorite), "I Am a Girl Like You," "To Be a Princess," "The Cat's Meow," "If You Love Me for Me, "and "Written in Your Heart."

6. Barbie as Rapunzel (2002)

So this movie hits close to home, because I used to watch this with my best friend. This movie has nostalgia written all over it, with the story, the characters, HER DRESS, and the heavenly music. Literally, the most magical parts from the movie for me were her dress transformation and when she started using the paintbrush and painted the freaking kingdom and walked through it. Like, it can not get any better. Thank you, Mattel for bringing this to little girls around the world and letting their dreams come true.

5. Barbie in The Nutcracker (2001)

We got the first one as number 5. This is here because it's nostalgic to me as well and it's a holiday classic, even though I didn't watch it on Christmas. This is a great movie besides the bad animation at the time it was made. I loved this movie and watched it multiple times as a kid and remembering my mom singing to Tchaikovsky because she's a musician. This was magical for a little girl like me, plus the Pas de Deux at the end was the icing on the cake. It was also cool to know that Tim Curry was the voice for the Mouse King.

4. Barbie in A Christmas Carol (2008)

Okay, I absolutely loved this as a kid. I watched this loooong ago with my other best friend because she had it, and it was so magical to me. If I had this movie to myself, I would watch this every Christmas. Do you have a favorite character from this movie? Mine is the spirit of Christmas future, is that weird? I just think she's my favorite because she stays more true to the original ghost of future, she's tall and elegant, her voice is serious but gentle and she looks really gorgeous and not like the other ones at all. I seriously wish I could talk to her myself when all Eden thinks about is "let's get this over with." Lol.

3. Barbie Fairytopia: Mermaidia (2006)

Number 3! This movie will always be near and dear to my heart. I mean mermaids! Come on! An underwater adventure! When I was little, I always thought about how to get there and try the magical seaweed so I could breathe underwater for once. Honestly, seeing Elina as a mermaid was pretty freaking amazing. I mean the cover is enough to remember how magical it is. Plus, BIBBLE!

2. Barbie & The Diamond Castle (2008)

Second-best one of all, without a doubt. I sing the songs from this movie almost every day, it's seriously a very good movie. I looove the end when they transform into their gowns and you hear Brahms Symphony in the background, and when Lydia comes back for some reason why and they play the instruments and sing "Believe" in the perfect keys is amazing and I get chills every single time.

Now we found the diamond in the middle of all this digging. Sorry, I'm trying to make it sound cool. This. This is the best Barbie movie ever. I don't care what anyone thinks (even though I respect your opinions) but this is my favorite because it was my first Barbie movie ever and I got it sent from my grandma who lives in Canada and I live here in Sweden, and as soon as I watched it it was the most magical movie I had ever seen. I mean the first blush of spring! Come on! That was so cool! And Elina's transformation, oh my goodness. Worth it. Plus, BIBBLE!
