A Vet Revealed What The Worst Part Of His Job Was And It's Heartbreaking

    Bring on the waterworks.

If you’re a pet lover, you know there’s absolutely nothing worse than having to say goodbye to your four-legged best friend.

Jessi Dietrich had to take her 2-year-old cat, Rick, to the vet because he had a UTI blockage that nearly killed him.

But when Jessi was at the vet’s office, she asked him what the toughest part of his job was, and his answer completely broke her heart (and will probably break yours, too).

Asked my vet what the hardest part was about his job &he said when he has to put an animal down 90% of owners don't actually want to be in the room when he injects them so the animal's last moments are usually them frantically looking around for their owners &tbh that broke me

The heartbreaking tweet got a huge reaction with people chiming in left and right about what pet owners should do when that awful time comes.

@just_uss227 @jessi_dietrich I chose to be there when My neighbors put down their pup, he got a bowl full of chicken and the whole family lying on the ground with him while it happened.

Most reactions were of absolute heartbreak.

@jessi_dietrich dude you just shattered my heart into a 1000 little pieces. when my pupper passed he was napping on the floor right beside the couch where I was napping bc he wanted to be close to me.

Some even shared photos of when they had to say goodbye to their pooch. Niagara Falls alert!

@jessi_dietrich All 3 boys, my wife and I sat with our boy Luke in our living room. Toughest day. Hope he's watching over us. https://t.co/cU1ES477gG

A vet technician chimed in on the conversation, too.

@jessi_dietrich It breaks my heart when the families leave but when they do, we have the doctor and a few techs in the room talking to them and making sure they are loved when they pass.

Jessi said she simply wanted to share what her vet had said so people can consider this when that dreaded time does come.

She said in no way did she intend to make people feel guilty or bad about whatever it is they choose to do when they have to say goodbye to their beloved pet.

She even issued a heartfelt apology for having inadvertently broken many a heart with her tweet.

Didn't mean to break everyone's hearts just wanted to raise awareness!!!!! I'm so sorry :/

We don't deserve our wonderful pets 🐱🐭🐶
