Which of the following traits do you value most about your students?

It's tough to establish what a 'classic' Core Professor actually means, but that's just how you like it. Your feelings are somewhat across the board regarding how much to challenge students vs. how much to meet them where they are, but you often lean quite toward challenge -- standards are important, after all. Furthermore, Rhetoric of Self does not mean a "writing class" and Concepts of Self does not mean a "humanities" class -- if you wanted to teach those, you'd be at UVM. Anyway, the 200 level courses are more your bag. You're open to change, but more often on a larger, curriculum based scale, rather than tweaking specific assignments or class-session design based on individual students. That said, you hold extensive office hours while soft jazz music plays in the background, and are there for your students in every way you can be. Classy and/or cordially sarcastic, that's what the groupies say about you. #jazz #classical #60s/70s folk

THE CLASSIC

You think outside the box, but you're also comforted by the box on occasion (standards are important after all) and even enjoy the box's limitations, if only to push against. You respect the conceptual scaffolding integral to the original Core structure; however, you also believe certain skills should be scaffolded as well. You see space for integration and interdisciplinary leaps where others may not, and believe there is no harm trying out rather bizarre ideas, even if they flop the first time. THE INNOVATOR

You respect the structure and scaffolding of the Core, and believe it served its purpose for a long while ...but...TIMES THEY ARE A-CHANGIN'. Not only has the student body changed, but so have the ultimate goals for academics and their place in the real world. You might have gotten The Innovator, had it not been for your passion for/love of change and a particularly nerdy academic excitement. The old structure must be CHUCKED OUT and replaced with something that caters to the students we have (i.e. scaffolding the writing skills with help scaffold the thinking skills!!!) while also making them extremely uncomfortable with their cultural assumptions. #altpop #oldschoolhiphop #partaymusic #keychanges

THE POT STIRRER

This is ridiculous. Who needs to be defined? You roll how you roll. You sometimes want change, you sometimes think the initial structure of Core works fine. Division meetings are just division meetings (why does everyone get so crazy?), they sometimes even provide bagels! You are inspired by your many interests (including your pHd specification), as well as your students (most of the time), and if someone put your music library on shuffle it would feel like they'd landed on a schizophrenic alien planet. #ofcourseilikeshowtunes #raptoo #countryisgreatwhenitsnotterrible #keychanges #alteverything #classiceverything
