Throughout Sinéad's life, she was outspoken in both her music and on stage, often speaking out against child abuse — and infamously ripping up a photo of the Pope during a Saturday Night Live performance.

Sinéad released 10 albums during her career, including the global hit "Nothing Compares 2 U," and was nominated for multiple Grammys.

Sinéad, too, struggled with mental health throughout her life and was diagnosed with bipolar disorder as well as complex post-traumatic stress disorder and borderline personality disorder.

Despite being open about her struggles in recent years, Sinéad appeared to be optimistic about the future and had plans to release new music soon.
