Numerous commenters called the tattoo "Satanic" and condemned Doja for putting the image on her body.

One former fan even said that they were unfollowing because Doja had "clearly" sold her soul to the devil.

In response, Doja proved she was completely unbothered, writing back, "Whatever helps u sleep at night."

When the negative comments continued to roll in, Doja clarified what the image was all about, sharing that it was actually part of Fortunio Liceti’s 1665 edition of De Monstris.

According to art history nonprofit organization Public Domain Review, De Monstris was a commentary on deformities in nature, with the artist choosing to not see these differences as "errors or failures in the course of nature."

"Instead, he likened nature to an artist who, faced with some imperfection in the materials to shape, ingeniously created another form still more admirable," the organization wrote.

Despite the clarification about Doja's intentions with the tattoo, she still found herself facing criticism from fans β€” to which she continued to be unbothered.
