Today Is Not About Me
by Ait Fetterolf
I was born in these here United States
and I Have no Pussy to Grab.
And only in the Demon Days of Summer
Could You Confuse Me With An A-Rab.
My sexuality is my own affair,
but I've no lisp or gait to hide.
And if forced to live in secrecy
I Could Settle With Taking a Bride.
I've dealt with a bum hip in the past,
but not a lifelong disabling condition.
And I've never worried that I would be shot
by an armored SWAT Team division.
I speak only my native English
(and barely fluently!)
And if someone told me to go back to Mexico
I'd be right confused indeed.
I've never had trouble advancing at work
or Climbing that Corporate Ladder
and If You Asked For the Right To Control My Body
I'd Call You Mad as a Hatter!
I'm a welfare state proponent
thus with President-Elect Trump I mostly disagree.
But while I'm merely bummed,
Some are
Mourning,
Sickened,
Frightened,
Terrified,
Stunned,
so Today Is Not About Me.
