Bloom and Wild are my absolute favourite when it comes to flowers. I've used them countless times and I've never had a bad experience. They deliver to the UK and Ireland, the blooms last for ages and they're designed to fit through a letterbox. This means that if you're not in to accept the delivery then you don't need to go to the post office depot the next day and can enjoy your flowers immediately.

M&S is always reliable, but where they really shine is the delivery – they've a whole section of flowers that they'll deliver on a Sunday. One to bookmark for Mother's Day weekend. (And Father's Day too!)

Interflora have a huge selection, deliver everywhere and are reliably good. They're my go-to for any special birthday flowers, especially as many of the arrangements come with a vase included.

Bunches come up a lot in the Money Saving Expert forums, and often have a good deal on. For example, at the moment all online orders come with free delivery, and free chocolates.

If you have a little more money to spend, Appleyard Flowers are impossibly chic. Like this "Cherry Bakewell" bouquet (£27) with pink oriental lilies, cerise roses, blue veronica and white alstroemeria.

This site has a nifty section for further-away deliveries, called the Highland Collection. It means that despite the slings and arrows of the postal service, the flowers will still be long-lasting when they arrive.

If you'd like something a little different, Sprout specialize in house plants by post. Think cacti, succulents and monstera obliqua. As a bonus, Sprout is a small business, so they can be flexible with delivery options if you need to get something sent double-quick.

If you're keen on knowing exactly where your flowers are from, then Wiggy Wrigglers could be for you. They're focused on using British flowers (as opposed to ones grown overseas), and everything's run from their farm in Herefordshire. They can be flexible with overseas delivery too, if you ask nicely.
