I Used An AI Recipe Generator, I Made Breakfast And Lunch And I'm Actually Not Mad At The Results

Spoiler alert, the results were YUMMY!

Imagine it: you're at home and you're starting to feel hungry. You open up the fridge and see a bunch of random ingredients that don't necessarily go together. You don't feel like going food shopping for new ingredients, but you also don't know what to make out of the ingredients you have!

If this is starting to sound familiar, I feel ya. But luckily, Buzzfeed's AI-Powered Recipe Generator is here to save the day!

I used BuzzFeed's recipe generator to make myself breakfast and lunch using only the ingredients I already had in my house. No food shopping allowed!

*The results were very unexpected, and I rated both on a scale of 1 to 10!*

I started off by choosing that I wanted to make breakfast, I had no restrictions or allergies, how many servings I wanted, and which ingredients I had. For my breakfast ingredients, I input: eggs, flour, oats, strawberries, blueberries, and bread.

And then the magic happens! Buzzy, BuzzFeed's AI tool, does its best to come up with a yummy and balanced recipe using the ingredients you input! Buzzy called my personal recipe "Sunny Morning Berry Bliss."

Buzzy will also give suggestions on how you can customize your recipe and will recommend ingredients that you can add to make it more tasty and balanced!

Before I started making the recipe, I gathered all of my ingredients: 2 eggs, 3 tablespoons of flour, 2 tablespoons of oats, 4 sliced strawberries, a handful of blueberries, and 2 slices of bread (but I wasn't that hungry, so I only used 1 slice of bread this time).

After gathering my ingredients, I finally started making the recipe, following Buzzy's instructions step-by-step.

photo of step 1 with the the words "in a medium-sized bowl, crack the eggs and beat them gently until well-combined"
photo of step 2 with the the words "add the flour and oats to the beaten eggs, and mix until a thick batter forms"
photo of step 3 and 4 with the the words "heat a non-stick skillet over medium heat and lightly grease it" and "pour half of the batter onto the skillet, spreading it into a small round shape, cook it for 2 to 3 minutes, or until bubbles start to form"
photo of step 5 and 6 with the the words "flip the pancake and cook for an additional 1 to 2 minutes until cooked and golden brown, transfer to a plate and repeat" and "toast the bread slices until golden and crisp, cut each slice diagonally
photo of step 7 and 8 with the the words "arrange the pancakes and toast triangles on a plate" and "top the pancake with sliced strawberries and sprinkle the blueberries around the plate"
photo of step 9 with the the words "serve it with whipped cream or with a drizzle of syrup or honey (I did not have whipped cream or syrup, so I drizzled some honey on top of the pancakes)"

    Breakfast Rating: 7/10

    Now, onto lunchtime!

This time, I only input ingredients I knew I would want to combine together. The ingredients I input for lunch were: bread, cheese, butter, apples, and cinnamon. These are the ingredients to one of my favorite ways of making a grilled cheese sandwich. So, I was hoping that Buzzy would pick up on this...

    ...and Buzzy did not disappoint!

The only ingredient that I was missing from my perfect grilled cheese recipe was bacon, but Buzzy did a great job crafting the recipe just the way I like it.

Buzzy also suggested that I add a side salad to the meal to make it more balanced and filling. Unfortunately, I had just run out of lettuce before trying this challenge. But next time I go food shopping, I will take Buzzy's advice!
