Our loo had some serious limescale buildup in its base that no amount of bleach or scrubbing could get rid of, and it was getting pretty disgusting. I eventually found out about pumice cleaning blocks online and nabbed this inexpensive one after reading its rave reviews! Just wet the stone, rub it over your grossest surfaces, and then rinse or wipe the dirt away – it's really easy to use, and it'll work on your ovens and barbecues too.

7. Transform your extremely well-used cups with this deep-cleaning powder.

You know those cups you've abandoned in the back of the cupboard because their stains are so bad? Yeah, I had one of those and was about to throw it out before trying this powder as a last resort. I was amazed by the results – the product wears away the stains and marks from buildup without damaging the mug's surface underneath, and it doesn't leave a bad taste or odour behind either!

8. Like most homes in the UK, my flat is in a hard water area. I avoid having to deep-clean the crust in my kettle by using this drop-in descaler ball instead! I just popped it in and continued to use the appliance as normal while it worked its magic (so low-hassle).
