Consider me your guinea pig.
This intensively hydrating and protective cream is thick enough to last all day and contains soothing chamomile and lanolin – science aside, it's the only product I've ever tried that works on my delicate mid-sniffle skin. Doesn't hurt that it's made the rest of my face look plump and moisturised either!
Price: £10.00.
I love how quickly and evenly this stuff absorbs into my skin, and its blurring, smoothing effects make for a perfect primer.
Price: £17.80.
It can sometimes feel like Serious Critics think 'fun' and 'literary' are mutually exclusive terms, so I was glad to discover how readable and ~thrilling~ Donna Tartt's The Secret History is. It focuses on a scandal among some Classics students, and it's as engaging as it is poetic. Addictive.
Price: £9.19 for a paperback copy.
It's made from durable and lightweight copper which is formed into rows of tiny combs. It can pick up everything from fine hairs to dust!
Price: £12.99.
I'm genuinely not sure how I lived without this genius spinning-drain mop. Not only does it dry your mop head out faster so it won't fester in the bucket afterwards, but it *also* gets your floors dry more quickly (which is crucial if you're 1) in a rush, 2) dealing with sensitive flooring like hardwood or marble, or 3) both). I love that the drain is pedal-operated, because plunging a mop down into the push-down kinds can be surprisingly tiring! Oh, and that wide microfibre mop head is no joke either – I find it covers a *way* bigger surface area and picks up much more dirt than the regular string kinds.
Price: £32.20.
They click together to create a seamless seal, so they're ideal if you've got a lot of opened packets lying around (they've saved me from having to chuck out so many half-eaten bags of crisps). They're completely dishwasher-safe too.
Price: £5.25 for 30.
You can just hang it straight onto your rail like a regular hanger – it's big enough to hold my entire shoe collection at once, and makes me feel like I'm on organisation TikTok.
Price: £12.99.
It has beads inside the handle to filter and descale the water before it comes out of the head, so it's perfect if you're living in a hard water area. It has three powerful settings (massage, rainfall, and combination) that you can toggle between by clicking the handy button on its side! I couldn't get over how easy it was to install, and I *still* talk about how much shampoo I save using this bad boy.
Price: £15.99 for a shower head and a 2m-long hose.
Just a couple of strokes of this pencil gives me enough coverage to subtly fill in my brows, and it's got a handy spoolie on its end too!
Price: £8.00 – it's available in eight shades.
It can be used as a hair mask, leave-in conditioner, or regular conditioner – the formula contains hydrating and nourishing ingredients like coconut and macadamia oil, so it's no wonder my sister says it gives her the moisture that other products fail to deliver. It'll leave your hair soft and shiny, and it doesn't feel heavy either!
Price: £3.46.
This mascara contains buildable bamboo fibres, meaning its inky formula will elongate your lashes without clumping or flaking. It's got tiny bristles that coat my smallest lashes, and bigger ones to lift and exaggerate the larger hairs too!
Price: £7.84.
It's ridiculously easy to use – it banished my shower head's limescale in a matter of minutes, and it's a great way to get into all the nooks and crannies I can never usually reach.
Price: £3.50.
It's powerful enough to remove oil from plastics and metals without any scrubbing on your behalf. I let it sit on my hob's (frankly atrocious) grease traps for a couple of minutes and was amazed by how much oil it lifted!
Price: £0.90.
Its protein-rich formula will help to strengthen your hair from the inside out, so I'm not surprised that it's given my hair a thicker, healthier appearance. IMO, that's pretty impressive for less than a fiver!
Price: £4.50.
I bought this because I'd seen a friend of mine rave about it on Twitter – two weeks in, I'm so glad I fell for the hype. I put a tiny amount under each eye at night before my moisturiser, and I've already noticed that my lines have softened and my skin has plumped (the dream, TBH).
Price: £12.00.
I do own some regular sunscreen, but being honest I don't always remember to apply it (I know, I know). This spray is genius because 1) it goes on over makeup, so I can put it on at any point in the day and 2) the spray function makes it approximately 200 times more fun to use than lotions. I genuinely haven't gone a day without sun protection since buying it!
Price: £6.00.
The hydrocolloid patches stick to your skin and slowly draw the gunk out of your spots (so gross, but so satisfying). They also blur the edges of your spot and dull any redness when you're wearing them – what's not to love?!
Price: £4.79 for 24 patches.
My lips have been really dry lately, so I tried this intensive mask as a last resort. I've been impressed by the results, and it feels surprisingly lightweight too!
Price: £4.50.
I only need to use a few drops of this stuff to benefit from its smoothing formula! The serum contains hydrating hyaluronic acid and jojoba oil too.
Price: £8.99.
I'd been using Glossier's cheek stain for a while and while I love how intense it is, I was after something a little cheaper. This highly-rated putty one delivers pigment without the shine, and its peachy colour is just *chef's kiss*.
Price: £6.00.
Don't be fooled by its super-low price – this pore-blurring powder is the best one I've ever tried. It'll cover *without* clogging, and it's gotten rid of the makeup-ruining oil that used to plague me throughout the day.
Price: £5.99 for a translucent powder.
It's brimming with nourishing and healing ingredients like vitamin E that promise to turn your skin's cells over faster and deeply hydrate the existing ones.
Price: £17.24.
Everyone I know who's used this product has raved about it, and I now understand why. I apply it twice a day immediately after washing my face (your skin should be a little damp when you put it on), and it's given me that 'eight glasses of water a day' look my skin could never achieve unaided.
Price: £6.29.
I love chucking this on top of a five-minute noodle dish or stir fry and convincing myself I'm a Michelin-star chef – it goes great with everything from scrambled eggs to steamed broccoli, and I've been known to eat spoonfuls on plain microwaved rice during particularly busy days too.
Price: £5.78.
It's filled with reflections on love in all its forms, and I don't think it would be an exaggeration to say it's changed my life already.
Price: £8.53.
I know how important a good sunscreen is, but I was really struggling to find one that didn't break me out. Enter: this super-lightweight option that coats my skin without clogging it – it feels incredibly hydrating, and it lives up to its 'invisible' claims IMO. Dermatologists love this stuff for its high-coverage, fragrance-free, sensitive skin-friendly formula, and I love it because it doesn't give me spots or an annoying chalky cast.
Price: £19.50.
There's no non-bougie way to say this, so I'll just come out with it: I went to see a dermatologist last year, and the first OTC products she recommended for my combination skin were from La Roche-Posay. This oh-so-gentle makeup remover is amazingly effective (yes, it does get rid of my waterproof mascara), just a little bit goes a long way, and it's perfect for sensitive skin too.
Price: £17.95.
You know that tight, ravenous-for-moisturiser feeling your skin gets after using certain cleansers? Yeah, I haven't experienced that once with this derm-recommended cleanser. It makes sense – hydration-grabbing glycerin features in its minimal ingredients list, so it's perfect for any skin type (including sensitive skin)!
Price: £13.50.
I just do not know how I lived without this stuff. It gives my foundation a silky-smooth base to stick to, it fills in my pores, and it truly does make my makeup last all day – in short, it belongs in your basket yesterday.
Price: £9.00.
Its silicone material is really easy to clean, and it works my shampoo *right* down to the root too – oh, and none of that's to mention its oh-so-soothing massage properties.
Price: £7.99.
