Merlin is a legendary character from the History of English Kings written by Geoffrey of Monmouth in 1136. He is a character that can foresee the future and uses it to aid the course of history, often appearing neither good or evil but rather neutral.

Joan was a woman from Orleans who received visions from angels. They asked her to help King Charles VII and save France from English domination during the Hundred Years War. She was a very successful military leader and had a large part to play in the crowning of Charles and the victory of the French of the English. She was burned at the stake in 1431, 19 years old, by a pro-English bishop.

Joan of Arc

Hildegard was a German Benedictine abbess, writer, composer, philosopher, Christian mystic, visionary, and polymath. She is considered to be the founder of scientific natural history in Germany. She wrote theological, botanical, and medicinal texts, as well as letters, liturgical songs, and poems, while supervising miniature illuminations in the Rupertsberg manuscript of her first work, Scivias. (Wikipedia) She also invented her own language!

Hildegard von Bingen

Japanese empress, during whose reign the Yōro Code—which established the rule of her family, the imperial clan—throughout Japan, was promulgated. Empress Genshō also commissioned a second national history of Japan, the Nihongi, a meticulous chronicle of Japanese court and aristocratic life to the year 697 (it was completed in the middle of her reign, in the year 720). Robin Hood

She was Queen consort of France (1137–1152) and England (1154–1189) and Duchess of Aquitaine in her own right. The most powerful woman in Europe during her lifetime. She took part in the Second Crusade and recruited some of her royal ladies-in-waiting for the campaign, as well as 300 non-noble Aquitainian vassals. She insisted on taking part in the Crusades as the feudal leader of the soldiers from her duchy.

Eleanor of Aquitaine

Vlad III was prince of the medieval city of Wallachia from 1448 to 1477. He is known as Vlad the Impaler in Romanian historiography because impalement that was his favorite method of execution. He was the inspiration for Dracula, the mythological vampire.
