A female samurai, or Onna Bugeisha, she was the leader of an ad hoc corps of female combatants who fought in the battle of Aizu. This unit was later called the Women's Army (娘子隊 Jōshitai). While leading a charge against Imperial Japanese Army troops of the Ōgaki Domain, she was fatally shot in the chest. Rather than let the enemy capture her head as a trophy, she asked her sister, Yūko, to cut it off and have it buried. It was taken to Hōkai Temple (in modern-day Aizubange, Fukushima) and buried under a pine tree. (from Wiki)

She was an English mathematician and writer, chiefly known for her work on Charles Babbage's proposed mechanical general-purpose computer, the Analytical Engine. She was a German actress from 1910 to the 1980s. Dietrich was noted for her humanitarian efforts during World War II, housing German and French exiles, providing financial support and even advocating their US citizenship. A problematic hottie, he would later become dictator of the Soviet Union and plunge its citizens into the great terror where people were "purged" and famines caused millions of deaths between 1932-1933 alone. He was leader when the Soviet Army defeated the Nazi invasion in the East.

Young Joseph Stalin

Ah, poor Nicholas. Father of the famous Anastasia Romanov. His reign saw the fall of the Russian Empire from one of the foremost great powers of the world to economic and military collapse. His abdication following the February Revolution of 1917 marked the end of 300 years of Romanov rule. He and his family, including his wife, four daughters, and only son were imprisoned. They were murdered by Bolshevik guards in July 1918.
