"Ryno" is arguably one of the greatest fielding 2nd baseman of all-time as well as an all-star at the plate. His .989 Fielding % ranks 10th all-time for 2nd basemen. Add a .285 Career Batting Avg. and a .344 Career On-Base % to that and its understandable why Ryne Sandberg made the cut.

4. Mordecai "Three Finger" Brown

Mordecai Brown may have only had three-fingers on his throwing hand, due to a childhood accident, but that didn't keep him from becoming one of the most dynamic pitchers in MLB history. Brown played a major role in both the Cubs 1907 and 1908 World Series victories, 2 of the 3 WS the Cubs have ever one. He posted a career ERA of 2.06 which places him 6th all-time. He was even more dominant in a Cubs uniform, posting a 1.80 ERA over the duration of his 10 seasons with the Cubs. He also has the 11th lowest WHIP in MLB history, sitting at a 1.066. As if all of this wasn't enough justification, Mordecai also posted a .648 Win %, ranking 31st all-time.

3. "Cap" Anson

Cap Anson played a record 27 seasons in the MLB. He took on duties of both a player and a manager for 19 of his 22 seasons with the Chicago "White Stockings." He is often referred to as the Father of a team that would eventually become known as the Chicago Cubs; they actually temporarily changed the name of the team to the "Orphans" when Cap retired from baseball in 1897. Not only is Cap one of the best Cubs of all-time, hes one of the best to ever play the game ranking 7th all-time in career hits as well as 4th all-time in career RBIs. He also batted an outstanding .334 throughout his career and was a two time NL Batting Champion.

Ernie Banks. We call him Mr. Cub... this alone should be evidence enough that this man deserves to be ranked #1 upon this prestigious list. However, Ernie wasn't just given his nickname; he earned it. Ernie remains the only Cub to win the NL MVP award twice, he has made the most All-Star appearances of any Cub (14), he hit 512 career home runs and even was awarded a Gold-Glove in 1960. Ernie truly was a man of many trades on the baseball diamond, what scouts today would refer as a 5-tool player.
