1. Number one rule in the family? Honour your parents.

The statement above was literally the first dialogue of the movie. I don't know what it is, but as an Asian, one is always expected to honour their parents, no matter what the situation is (┬┬﹏┬┬)

2. The need to be an overachieving all-rounder.

I think just like the movie, every Asian kid goes through this pressure of being an all-rounder, who more than themselves, needs to make their family feel proud of them and want their validation.

3. There is always that one friend your parents disapprove of.

Just like Miriam, there is always this one friend in your circle, that your parents just do not approve of.

4. The overbearing relatives.

Honestly, they are the main source of most of the trauma that a person receives in their life.

5. Your parents feed you delicious food as a way of peace offering.

Lastly....... (I think every Asian person's personal favourite)😭😭 Asian parents will beat the shit out of you (not in a physical abuse way...relax) but they will never ask for an apology. Instead, they will bring you freshly cut fruits on a plate (obviously when you will be studying or completing your homework duh..) or will make good food for you as a sign of peace.
