The Secret Hide-Outs Of History's Greatest Villains

1. Osama bin Laden's Abbottabad Compound

Before a dedicated team of CIA operatives tracked down and killed bin Laden in May 2011 as part of Operation Neptune Spear, it is believed FBI's Most Wanted man sought refuge in this Pakistani compound for five years.

2. Saddam Hussein's Spider Hole

The former President of Iraq was famously discovered disheveled, hiding in a small hole near Al_dawr alongside two AK-47s and $750,000 worth of $100 bills. He was hanged in 2006 after being found guilty of numerous crimes against humanity.

3. Idi Amin's Karamojan Estate

Before eventually seeking exile in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, where he eventually died, Idi Amin stayed at a safe distance from the people he ruled mercilessly in this oversized home in Karamoja, Uganda.

4. Hitler's Wolf's Lair

The reinforced bunker that Adolf Hitler occupied sporadically from late June 1941 to November 1944, deep in the Masurian woods of Poland, was built so robustly that it resisted demolition in 1945. It now serves as a macabre tourist destination.

5. The Unibomber's Montana Cabin

This small Lincoln, Montana cabin was where American terrorist Ted Kaczynski lived in isolation and from where he sent out numerous mail bombs between 1978 and 1995. The structure now lives inside Washington D.C. Newseum.

6. Gaddafi's Drainage Pipe

The once-extravagant leader of Lybia Muammar Gaddafi met his extremely violent and public end at the hands of revolutionary fighters after they discovered him wounded, hiding inside of a drainage pipe and mercilessly ignored his please to not shoot.

7. Marshal Lin Biao's Mongolian Bunker

Recently repurposed as a bar, the entrance to the cave which the leader of the Communist Party of China used as his headquarters is hidden behind an incongruous plane, hidden in the deep Mongolian brush. Though Lin Biao doesn't quite count as a villain, his bunker was too cool to leave off the list.
