Virginia Tech Asks What Do LGBTQ Rights Mean To You?

October has been a big month for LGBTQ rights in the state of Virginia. Same sex marriage officially became legal in the Commonwealth on October 6, followed by notice from Gov. Terry McAuliffe that same sex married couples could adopt children. In the small town of Blacksburg, Virginia Tech has also seen big changes after the Board of Visitors unanimously voted to add Gender Expression and Gender Identity into the University's anti-discrimination policies. Initiatives have been undertaken campus-wide as part of LGBTQ History Month coinciding with the School of Performing Arts' mainstage production of The Laramie Project and The Laramie Project: 10 Years Later. We decided to ask the students of Virginia Tech what LGBTQ rights meant to them. This is what they had to say:
