Tragedy at Pukkelpop 2011
Horror at Pukkelpop 2011. The festival that is just one hour away from my place was hit by a huge storm yesterday afternoon. Screens were knocked dows and tents collapsed, as people were running around in pannic, trying to find shelter from the storm. At this moment, 5 people were found dead, and more than 140 people are injured. “The storm struck in an incredibly sudden way,” said Hilde Claes, mayor of Hasselt, who was there. “It was a real whirlwind. I have never seen anything like it in Hasselt before.” The three-day Pukkelpop festival was set to have featured rapper Eminem and U.S. bands Foo Fighters and The Offspring. Organizers decided early today to cancel the rest of the festival.
