It is incredible to me that these dogs, so badly let down by humans, want so desperately to love and trust. You can see in their eyes just the huge capacity for love, even though most of them are clearly terrified. If only people know how to forgive so easily. These rescues broke my heart, I am so grateful for knowing that there are good people out there. This guy deserves a medal.

I’ll never understand how people can hurt and/or abandon animals. Take the dog to a goddamn shelter and give it the chance to be with someone who will love and care for it. I’m always happy to see stories of rescue dogs even though they make me cry without fail. It’s amazing that there are so many people out there willing to do the right thing. It warms my heart.

My pug Dexter was rescued from a puppy mill after four years. The ammonia from the feces and urine damaged his eyes and now he needs eye drops three times a day. He was terrified of everything and didn’t know how to do basic dog stuff like play with toys. He was scared to step on grass because he had no idea what it was. Now, more than a year later, he’s a happy, lazy dog without a care in the world. I love him so much.
