The paradox of being tolerant of intolerance. I can find no justification for granting tolerance to intolerance as it discredits the concept used to grant it acceptance. To comply only validates the incoherence of the position. IT seems then that intolerance of intolerance is justifiable on logical grounds. Otherwise, the more reasonable is made to grant validity to the incoherent but not the other way round, and this is an unjustifiable asymmetry.

A symbol is only as worthy of respect as that to which it refers. If America wants its flag to stand for more than greed, violence, commercialism, consumerism, social injustice and inequality, it needs to give substance to the ideas which the flag is purported to represent. Otherwise, a damaged, commercialised product designed to simultaneously display contempt, capitalistic participation and sex seems somehow an appropriate use of the symbol and a political statement exercised as free speech within the market.

The research, at least the last research I read about the subject approximately three years ago, indicates that while we prefer a generally symmetry to faces we find those with slight asymmetry more attractive. There is some debate for this finding reflecting a kind of processing bias which allows for more information to be available in a slightly asymmetric face. In any case, given images of perfectly symmetrical faces and those of slightly asymmetrical faces the preference, regardless of culture, was for the slightly asymmetrical image as being the more beautiful.
