TV Show Apologises After A Presenter Made A Joke About A 9/11 Film

    A statement by ITV show Jackpot 247 said Emma Lee “hadn’t realised the content of the preceding film”.

    A TV gaming show has apologised after presenter Emma Lee made a joke about planes shortly after a showing of 9/11 film United 93.

    Introducing Jackpot 247, Lee welcomed viewers with: “Thank you so much for coming in for an emergency landing with us tonight. Brace yourselves, it is going to be good. Hope you enjoyed the movie there on ITV.

    "Now it is time to sit tight and enjoy our games."

    Jackpot 247 has since released this statement on its website.

    Jackpot247 would like to apologise unreservedly for the comment made during our live broadcast on Saturday evening.

    The presenter hadn't realised the content of the preceding film and apologised on air as soon as she was made aware. She has asked us to repeat her sincere regret.

    Jackpot247 takes incidents of this nature very seriously and has instigated new measures and guidelines to its team to avoid anything similar in the future.

    Lee's husband, Tim Dixon, later tweeted that he believed she hadn’t been told what the movie was.

    A representative for Ofcom told BuzzFeed News said it had received 20 complaints about the incident and would assess the complaints before deciding whether to investigate.

    ITV and representatives for Emma Lee and Tim Dixon have been contacted for comment.
