A recent analysis of teeth from collections in Mexico's National Institute of Anthropology and History proves the lengths that some people will go to for a smile that sparkles. Native American dentists used stone drills in combination with "some type of [herb based] anesthetic" to bedazzle their patients' pearly whites with gems. Sissies these guys were not.

World's Tallest Dog Loses a Leg :(

Gibson the Great Dane had to have his right front paw amputated in order to prevent the spread of bone cancer. On the bright side, the amputation gives Gibson a 95% greater chance of survival, PLUS his Guinness World Record holding 7 ft. height wasn't affected by the operation. Whew!

Terrifying Stroke Prevention PSA from NHS

Because having a stroke is like having a fire. In your brain. I know it's not OK to laugh at stroke victims, but it's OK to laugh at actors in commercials who you know aren't actually having a stroke, right? And the unnecessarily close-to-the-face camera shots used to capture their every facial movement?

Looking at Cute Animals Improves Your Performance

According to a study from University of Virginia, viewing very cute images as opposed to slightly cute images "led to superior performance on a subsequent fine-motor dexterity task (the children's game 'Operation')" in the participants. As if I needed another reason to look at cute animals for hours at a time. If this is true, I want you all to know that my very own private neurosurgery practice will be taking appointments within the week.
