Two "Modern Day Bushrangers" Arrested After Years On The Run

UPDATE: A body has been found on the property where the two men were arrested.

UPDATE: NSW Police have confirmed a body has been found on a property where fugitive father and son duo Gino and Mark Stocco were arrested this morning.

Following the arrests, police located the body of a man at the property. While he has not yet been formally identified, it is believed to be that of a 68-year-old man who has been missing since Thursday.

A cause of death has not yet been established.

Gino and Mark Stocco, a father and son duo who have been on the run while allegedly causing havoc across three Australian states for weeks, have been arrested at a property in the NSW town of Dunedoo.

The pair have been wanted by police for eight years, but the search became more urgent in recent weeks as their behaviour became more erratic and dangerous.

Gino, 57, and his 35-year-old son Mark were found by NSW police after evading capture for weeks as their rampage, in which they allegedly shot at police, broke into homes, stole fuel and slashed tires, spanned three states.

Police say the pair did not surrender to police, following a covert operation by heavily armed police earlier this morning. No shots were fired and no one was injured.

The arrest involved officers from the Western Region, New England Local Area Command, the Tactical Operations Unit, Aviation Support Branch, and State Crime Command's Robbery and Serious Crime Squad.

The Queensland pair are thought to have been changing their appearances to evade capture as they've been spotted in towns as far apart as Wagga Wagga and Gundagai, and in country Victoria since allegedly firing at police on October 16.

The pair have been taken to Dubbo police station and will be charged with a number of criminal and property offences.
