Thilo Weichert, an official from the German state of Schleswig-Holstein's data protection, said that the Like button's ability to track a user's movement across the web violates privacy laws.

Don't they know that we've agreed to hand our lives over to the social networking authorities?

  • I recommend blocking facebook connect anyway. You don't have to be in Germany to realize it's ridiculous. I use ghostery, (it also blocks other tracking stuff / analytics) but there are lots of browser extensions that will do the same thing.
