People Keep Correcting Spelling Errors On UKIP Election Leaflets

One teacher was particularly unimpressed with the standard of English on a flyer that dropped through her letterbox.

There's a new election trend: People keep correcting spelling and grammar errors on UKIP leaflets. Such as this one, from Frome in Somerset.

The original leaflet was sent by Sharon Snook and Derek Tanswell, two councillors who recently defected from the Liberal Democrats to UKIP. The pair are defending their seats at council elections at the same time as the general election on 7 May.

The image above appeared on Reddit on Thursday. The woman with the red pen was 54-year-old teacher Suzy Howlett, who told MailOnline: "I marked it during a happy two minutes last night. I had heard about the leaflet from friends and my husband brought home a copy and straight away I told him I was eager to take a red pen to it.

"The part about borders – or boarders – really made me laugh. I took a picture of my work and my children, Lucy and George, were very amused by it. They posted it to their friends, and it took off."

At one point the teacher writes: "Grammar – this is not a sentence!"

That wasn't the only UKIP leaflet to be mocked. This one, also from Frome, got similar treatment from another voter.

As did this leaflet, from Howard Lillyman, a UKIP candidate in Pembrokshire.

The recipient was annoyed by the note's over-familiarity and also the candidate's description of himself as "long".
